houseplants-background3-480x480

The bromeliad plant.

Scored very well at removing six out of eight VOCs studied. The tropical plant stripped more than 80 percent of each of those compounds out of the air within a 12-hour timeframe. Dr. Niri says this is one of the best houseplants to have in the home or workplace.

Now I think this study shows this pot plant should be inside every office an home environment

Dracaena

This plant is the superstar, removing 94 percent of the chemical from the air. Acetone being one of them. Also removes gasses from particleboard, household cleaners, rubber cement and paint. Putting these plants in a nail salon would be great. I remember taking my grandkids into a nail salon as I was going to get my nails done. They were only about 6 and 8 years of age and we were not in that salon more than 10 minutes and they asked could they leave as they were feeling sick. That tells you how potent that stuff is.

Spider Plant

While the spider plant isn’t very good at sucking up benzene and toluene, it’s better at cleaning the air in other departments. This plants removed more than 80 percent of the ethylbenzene, p-Xylenes, o-Xylene and acetone from the air in chamber testing.

Jade Plant

This plant removed more than 80 percent of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, p-Xylenes and o-Xylene. And in the 70-percent range, it did an OK job of pulling acetone out of the air. Of all the plants tested, this was the best houseplant for removing toluene pollution from indoor air.

Unknown-2

1. Turmeric can help protect against Aluminum Toxicity.

Aluminum can destroy the endocrine system and lead to widespread hormonal imbalance (especially when it’s absorbed through the lymph system) if it accumulates beyond a certain level. It’s even been linked with breast cancer, prostate cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities are well-known. By neutralizing both chronic inflammation and oxidative stress—two of the greatest inhibitors of the body’s natural detoxification functions—turmeric helps protect against the negative effects of aluminum and other heavy metals.

3. Legend has it that tea was discovered accidentally. About  5,000 years ago when the Chinese Emperor witnessed leaves blow from a near by bush into a pot of  boiling water.

Anyway both Black and Green tea prevent the breakdown of Acetylcholine a chemical found to be lacking in the brain of those with Alzhiemer’s disease. Green tea is found to contain l-theanine an amino acid which increases the activity of dopamine and the alpha waves of the brain.

5. Keep a potted ‘Peace Lily’ on your desk. A NASA study showed this plant was the most effective at removing airborne toxins especially in the office to ward of all those office place germs. Interesting I thought.

4. 11 body fluids we couldn’t live without. Saliva, Urine, sweat, Bile, Blood, menstrual Fluid, Mucus, Pus, semen, tears, Vomitus.

a. Bile – bile salts, which function like soap to break down dietary fats, enabling them and fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D and E to be absorbed. They also help to prevent the cholesterol-containing bile in the gallbladder from forming gallstones.
b. Blood – contains cell fragments called platelets and clotting factors that help to seal leaks that may develop in blood vessels.
c. Menstrual fluid – menstrual fluid is one of the body fluids with the strongest psychological and cultural overtones
d. Mucus – keeps the lining of the respiratory system from drying out and also filters out dust and infectious agents in the air we breathe.
e. Pus – Pus under the skin is often found in a pimple, but deeper in the body a larger collection is known as an abscess. Pimples and abscesses represent the body’s attempt to contain the spread of an infection
f. Semen – Contains fructose, a sugar that nourishes the sperm, as well as alkaline secretions that help to neutralize the normally acidic environment of the vagina.
g. Saliva – contains antibacterial enzymes and antibodies, as well as mucus itself. Saliva helps to moisten food, which is important to lubricate chewing and swallowing. It also enhances taste, because if the chemicals in food were not in a liquid medium, they could not be detected by taste receptors.
h.Sweat – Most important role is thermoregulation, helping to cool the body when it begins to overheat.
I.Tears – serve three functions: to lubricate the eye, to remove irritants such as smoke (and a sulfuric acid-producing chemical from cut onions) and in association with emotional states such as sorrow and joy.
J. Urine – Average adult produces about 1.5 liters of urine per day. Produced by the kidneys and stored by the bladder, urine contains many substances that must be removed from the body to maintain a state of health. These include the breakdown products of protein metabolism, which would become toxic if they were allowed to accumulate in the blood. Urine also serves as the principal means for removing excess salt and water from the body.
K. Vomitus – vomiting purges the body of toxins

It is to your advantage financially if you happen to get bumped from a flight. If you are flexible with your flying time you should let the airline know. This will only happen if you have carry on luggage.

Some airlines will give you a voucher or cash. It can range from as little as $200 to $400 for domestic or $800 International. You can also request first class which will also give you extra points. If you are not in a hurry to get to your destination it is worth a try and some desperate passenger will love you for it.

My friend Trish on beach, sunshine coast, Australia

I love this piece of information because I love the mornings but if they are correct I should be very skinny.

A recent study from Northwestern Medicine has found out that timing, intensity and duration of your light exposure during the day is linked to weight. In this study, researchers have found out that daily exposure to even moderately bright light in the morning can bring about a significantly lower BMI as compared to those who had light exposure later in the day. The researchers commented that this finding was independent of physical activity, caloric intake, sleep, age or season. Thus if you want to lose weight, you should aim to get more bright light between 8AM and noontime.

This is a very interesting article and worth the readSource
