These tips are fresh off Fox news this morning from an Expedia representative
1. The cheapest Days to Travel
2. The best day to book
It used to be Tuesday now its SUNDAY
You could get up to as much as 11% saving
3. Book 21 days in advance.
It is called advanced purchase ticket pricing. Dont wait till it gets closer to your travel date as the prices will normally increase as it gets closer to your departure date.
4. Leisure Travel
You could get as much as a 50% saving if you include a Saturday night (considered leisure travel). It is common in countries around Europe. Not so much in China.
5. To Avoid Airport congestion
Arrive 2 hours early for domestic flights
Arrive 3 hours early for International flights
Check in with your smart phone 24 hrs before flight and select your seat to secure it.
6. Deals in January – South of the Border. Mexico
I very rarely complain – do I? Well this time I am, and so pissed off. It is not the first time this Airline has overcharged (in my opinion). For changing a flight date ($400) for what i believe a compassionate reason (Mother gravely ill) and not only did I have to pay that ridiculous price for changing my flight date they downgraded me to economy even though I had paid for a Works Deluxe seat. By this time I had almost paid for a ticket to America and back. Once again paying for a ‘Works Deluxe’ seat this week ($603 one way from Tauranga) I was ushered to an economy seat. This has not happened once it has happened twice. This ticket allows you into the lounge. Well I bloody near had to tackle the host to get in as they told me my ticket did not allow entrance to this area. Word of advice” Always Always” keep your online ticket to show proof (which I did thank goodness) of your purchase. Don’t assume that your passport is enough proof. These airlines can change your ticket and without you realizing they have downgraded you not upgraded. They do so without verbally letting you know.
This last trip the staff very nicely put me in a seat with more room ‘BUT NO ENTERTAINMENT’ it was not working – so I just had to drink more wine – Thanks to that very nice steward on flight NZ139
If they had upgraded me this letter would not exist.
Anyway I feel better now for getting this off my chest but a word of warning to all those who travel with Air New Zealand always check your boarding ticket to make sure you get what you paid for before you leave the counter.
I could add a few more on to this:
Movies were still 9c a ticket.
No Security checks at the Airports
Drive your bike past a fuel Station and it automatically filled the fuel tank without having to get off the bike.
Up until now when you bought your airline ticket you got hit with other unforeseen charges after you purchased your ticket.
Not anymore. The new Federal rule is that the airlines must inform you about all the airfare charges, before you buy the ticket.
1. The airline must fully disclose all fee’s and taxes when you purchase your ticket.
2. If you get bumped your compensation will be increased.
3. Lost Bag? Your baggage fee’s will be refunded.
For your information and consideration when buying a ticket:
Southwest – Has no fee’s for the first two bags.
I notice that Southwest has an EarlyBird Check-In. They assign your boarding position in advance of general check-in time, so you don’t have to worry about it. For only $10 one-way, you get an improved boarding position and earlier access to overhead bins.
Do you need this service? I personally would begrudge paying the $10, but it maybe important to you or anyone that has a rather large carry on bag.
To me it is an unnecessary fee.
Jet Blue – Has no fee’s for the first bag.
All other airlines charge for your checked in bags.
Solution – Have a single carry on bag. It will force you to learn to pack well
Do you want to know where the ‘Red Light’ camera’s are at intersections?
Well this is just the gadget, it is called Cobra iRadar iRAD-100 Radar Detector(IRAD)
I hate red light camera’s, I believe them to be totally intrusive, and just another Big Brother spying machine. They are everywhere unfortunately and we have to learn to live with them.
When I found out about this device I was so excited about it, I had to share it with you.
I must make it clear, that to run red lights is rather foolish but sometimes we do tend to misjudge and we get caught. Very painful for the wallet I have to say, so hopefully this device may help to prevent this pain.
Here is a list of the great things about it.
1. IRAD alerts drivers of on coming red light camera’s.
2. It is a high performance detector and detects all radar & laser guns currently in use.
3. 360 degree protection
4. iRadar app displays visual alerts from the detector on the iPhone
5. iPhone features also include view alert history on the radar map, alert logging of frequent speed trap activity, speedometer and compass.
6. IRAD reduces false alerts in City and Highways
This device sounds amazing.
The Cobra iRadar iRAD-100 Radar Detector can be bought on Amazon.com for $109.69 which is at least $10 -$20 cheaper than anywhere else that I have found. It has 4 star reviews also.
Keep in mind it is probably cheaper than a speeding ticket or a ticket for going through a red light.
