1. Some interesting facts about a few American political candidates. Well interesting for some and maybe not others.

220px-Abolafiapostera.  In 1975, Emil Matalik put himself forward as US Presidential candidate. He advocated a maximum of one animal and
one tree per family because he believed that there were too many animals and plant life on earth.

b. Louis Abalofia also put himself forward: his campaign poster featured a photo of him in the nude, with the slogan “I have nothing to hide.”

c. In the 1860s, financier George Francis Train ran for office with one item: the introduction of a new calender based
on his birth date. He stood for the position of Dictator of the United States, charged admission fees to his campaign rallies, and drew record crowds. He became a vegetarian and adopted various fads in succession. Instead of shaking hands with other people, he shook hands with himself, the manner of greeting he had seen in China.

2. When Helium is cooled to almost absolute zero (-460°F or -273°C), the  lowest temperature possible, it becomes a liquid with surprising  properties: it flows against gravity and will start running up and over the lip of a glass container!

It will suddenly be able to do things that other fluids can’t, like dribble through molecule-thin cracks, climb up and over the sides of a dish, and remain motionless when its container is spun.

“If you set [down] a cup with a liquid circulating around and you come back 10 minutes later, of course it’s stopped moving,” says John Beamish, an experimental physicist at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Atoms in the liquid will collide with one another and slow down. “But if you did that with helium at low temperature and came back a million years later,” he says, “it would still be moving.

3. If Betelgeuse (one of the brightest stars in Earth’s sky) would explode transiting from the red super giant stage to supernova then our sky would light continuously for two months. It can happen anytime, within a couple of thousand years, tomorrow or even now..Betelgeuse lies some 430 light-years from Earth. Betelgeuse has a luminosity about 10,000 times that of the Sun and its radius is calculated to be about 370 times that of the sun.

4. YOU can eat bugs! Try the “Eat-A-Bug Cookbook” by David George Gordon , 10 Speed Press. Don’t want to cook them yourself? Go to HotLix for all sorts of insect goodies! My favorites are “Cricket-lickit’s” – a flavored sucker with a real edible cricket inside. – See more at: http:.

Fear of long words

3. If you have Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, then you have the fear of long words.

They are a phenomenon by which seeing light without light actually entering the eye. This rubbing mechanically stimulates the cells of the retina causing effect. Even after you open your eyes you still see those spots for a little while.

5. Almost half the bones in your body are in your hands and feet. There are 27 in each hand and 26 in each foot, and the way that they are arranged is remarkably similar.

A very weird Week
author – Lesley Voth

I think the stars are misaligned this week
Strange, weird happenings so to speak

Actually when I come to think
Its been crazy, it could drive you to drink!

It has been time of expressed surprise and shock
Relationships crumbling when I thought they were steady as a rock.

A long-standing and loving marriage almost came to an end
No strangers to me, but a friend of a friend

That wasnt the only one, you could have knocked me over with a feather
And that’s another thing, all around the world it has been fearful weather

Around the world in many places the ground trembled and shook
Again more sadness, destruction and many lives it took

For me this week was the most traumatic of all
My granddaughter Mika, from the horse, had a nasty fall

Hearing her Mothers terror and seeing her limp frame
I thought the worst a terrible feeling, a feeling with no name

Off in the ambulance she went leaving us numb and standing
But thank-you Lord and her angels because they must have softened her landing

Many bruises and scratches on her body and face
But only a broken arm, was the result, that’s all they could trace

But you know the memorable and good thing about today
Having a laugh and coffee with the girls, makes me happy in a special way

When I am with my friends, we tell stories, we offload our woes
We laugh about them, offer sympathy, it softens the blows

To talk to my husband who is always cheerful and true
He gives me freedom, love and another point of view

So damn those stars, get back into line
Because I like it when everything is happy and fine
