Spiders get most of the information about their surroundings through vibrations. Snoring, breathing and heartbeat will probably scare them away.

houseplants-background3-480x480

The bromeliad plant.

Scored very well at removing six out of eight VOCs studied. The tropical plant stripped more than 80 percent of each of those compounds out of the air within a 12-hour timeframe. Dr. Niri says this is one of the best houseplants to have in the home or workplace.

Now I think this study shows this pot plant should be inside every office an home environment

Dracaena

This plant is the superstar, removing 94 percent of the chemical from the air. Acetone being one of them. Also removes gasses from particleboard, household cleaners, rubber cement and paint. Putting these plants in a nail salon would be great. I remember taking my grandkids into a nail salon as I was going to get my nails done. They were only about 6 and 8 years of age and we were not in that salon more than 10 minutes and they asked could they leave as they were feeling sick. That tells you how potent that stuff is.

Spider Plant

While the spider plant isn’t very good at sucking up benzene and toluene, it’s better at cleaning the air in other departments. This plants removed more than 80 percent of the ethylbenzene, p-Xylenes, o-Xylene and acetone from the air in chamber testing.

Jade Plant

This plant removed more than 80 percent of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, p-Xylenes and o-Xylene. And in the 70-percent range, it did an OK job of pulling acetone out of the air. Of all the plants tested, this was the best houseplant for removing toluene pollution from indoor air.

It is to your advantage financially if you happen to get bumped from a flight. If you are flexible with your flying time you should let the airline know. This will only happen if you have carry on luggage.

Some airlines will give you a voucher or cash. It can range from as little as $200 to $400 for domestic or $800 International. You can also request first class which will also give you extra points. If you are not in a hurry to get to your destination it is worth a try and some desperate passenger will love you for it.

I love this piece of information because I love the mornings but if they are correct I should be very skinny.

A recent study from Northwestern Medicine has found out that timing, intensity and duration of your light exposure during the day is linked to weight. In this study, researchers have found out that daily exposure to even moderately bright light in the morning can bring about a significantly lower BMI as compared to those who had light exposure later in the day. The researchers commented that this finding was independent of physical activity, caloric intake, sleep, age or season. Thus if you want to lose weight, you should aim to get more bright light between 8AM and noontime.

2. There is a spider in Brazil whose bites can cause an erection that lasts for Hours.
Banana spider or Phoneutria nigriventer – is native to South and Central America.
The venom of the Phoneutria nigriventer spider is a very rich mixture of several molecules.

These molecules are called toxins, and then we have various toxins in this venom with different activity.

Because of this, when a human is bitten by this spider, many different symptoms appear including priapism, a condition in which the penis is continually erect.’

Other side-effects on top of the long-painful erections include loss of muscle control, severe pain, difficulty breathing and if its victim is not treated with anti-venom, could lead to death due to oxygen deprivation.

Poem Friday – Short and swift

the Spider On my Porch

SHORT AND SWIFT.
Author: Lesley Voth

I was sitting on the porch with a glass of wine one night
Fascinated, totally absorbed, intrigued with this amazing sight.

This beautiful creature was working so hard and so fast
To weave his web, every thread had a purpose, every thread right to the last.

Ready to caputure the unsuspecting prey,
So strong, so sticky, ready for them night and day.

Now he is working, weaving up and down till totally complete
Just a busy creature, his job no mean feat.

So when eventually I got out of bed in the morning, with coffee in hand
I went to inspect this creation, amazing work, so grand.

Well I was so relaxed on the chair, observing and totally in awe
At the intricate detail, the pattern and much more

There he was in the centre of this trap, ready for the unsuspected
Admiring his catch, already caught and tangled in the web it erected.

Unnoticed by me we were joined by the kookaburra bird.
In the tree, casting his eye, very still, totally unstirred.

Then with one quick swoop he flew past me and that spiders life did end
I was shocked, aghast, all that work,so many hours. What message did that send?

Trust me, nature always has one
Go have heaps and heaps of laughter and fun

Be happy, live the moment because life is a gift.
And like this spider it could be” short and swift.”
