Poem From The Heart – Drugs

Carrie Wright

October 12, 2015 ·

I saw this on Facebook and really felt the need to share it. I have NEVER seen a more perfect poem, written in the saddest way.

“I destroy homes, tear families… apart – take your children, and that’s just the start.
I’m more costly than diamonds, more costly than gold – the sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
And if you need me, remember I’m easily found.
I live all around you, in schools and in town.
I live with the rich, I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door.
My power is awesome – try me you’ll see.
But if you do, you may never break free.
Just try me once and I might let you go, but try me twice, and I’ll own your soul.
When I possess you, you’ll steal and you’ll lie.
You’ll do what you have to just to get high.
The crimes you’ll commit, for my narcotic charms, will be worth the pleasure you’ll feel in your arms.
You’ll lie to your mother; you’ll steal from your dad.
When you see their tears, you should feel sad.
But you’ll forget your morals and how you were raised.
I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from God, and separate from friends.
I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I’ll be with you always, right by your side.
You’ll give up everything – your family, your home, your friends, your money, then you’ll be alone.
I’ll take and I’ll take, till you have nothing more to give.
When I’m finished with you you’ll be lucky to live.
If you try me be warned this is no game.
If given the chance, I’ll drive you insane.
I’ll ravish your body, I’ll control your mind.
I’ll own you completely; your soul will be mine.
The nightmares I’ll give you while lying in bed.
The voices you’ll hear from inside your head.
The sweats, the shakes, the visions you’ll see.
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.
But then it’s too late, and you’ll know in your heart, that you are mine, and we shall not part.
You’ll regret that you tried me, they always do.
But you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen.
Many times you were told, but you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.
You could have said no, and just walked away.
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I’ll be your master; you will be my slave.
I’ll even go with you, when you go to your grave.
Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not?
Its all up to you.
I can bring you more misery than words can tell.
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.”

Poem Friday – 07/24/2015 – It Will Make You Feel Glad

000SadHappy

Its Friday again, this week went so fast
It is so damn hot and another week it is going to last

Not sure what I will write about this week
Its been a time of indecision, rather private so to speak

Lots of deep thoughts some good some bad
And yes it made my heart heavy and very down and sad

But I am ok now, I am over it I think
But I can now dismiss those tears with a blink

You know how you feel when you want something so bad
But things happen for the right reason
And it will make you feel glad

Poem Friday 02/22/2013 – But Today It Ended In Tears

DSC_0096

The alarm went off at 4am still dark not yet dawn
The only thing from my mouth is a constant yawn

Yes the surf is up and Grandson needs that fix
School is not for three hours so can surf till six

admittedly it was a beautiful morning once the sun did rise
But looking back staying in bed would have been rather wise

For the first hour and a half it was all smooth and great
Surfing up and down waves and waiting for the next wave talking to his mate

Get away from those bloody rocks I would give him a yell
I don’t know if he heard I could not tell

Anyway to cut a long story short
Surfing can be rather a dangerous sport

He was heeding to my call that time was running out
It was close to six, time to get out I had to shout

Well the next wave was a beauty as you can see
So smooth, so long, great height, perfect as it could be

Unfortunately on the wave he had to avoid his surfing mate
Stayed on the wave to long, now heading for the rocks at a fast rate

The end result was not a pretty sight
Lots of bruising, blood but he is alright

Not the same for board, damaged rather bad
no fins left, big scratch, costly, going to make his bank balance very sad

Surfing is a great love that can be with him for many years
A love affair to excite him, he will be back again tomorrow, but today it ended in tears

Poem Friday « 1/14/2011 « What can I write about?

What can I write about?
Author Lesley Voth

What can I write about this week?
This year so far has been rather sad and bleak

For a start the weather, where ever you are
It has been devastating, wet and cold, It seems the worst by far

Snow up the top and rain down below
We all try to keep our chins up, try to be calm and mellow

Who are we kidding its a pain in the Arse
Its not going away for some time to pass

Its freezing and miserable, wet and boggy
Our feet are in mud and up top is all foggy

Now there are earthquakes that are shaking us silly
New Zealand, New Caledonia, Haiti and chile

What is happening to this place we call “Earth” in space
There is such pain, terror, and sadness, poverty, war, that many must face

Then of all things personal, my brother dies and so does my friends sister
Many are killed, houses destroyed in the US so quickly, by a twister

I think I know whats happening and I am sure you do to
We are subject to a test, to help others in need, more than you do

Forget our woes, Others need our assistance to be generously given
Be there for them, confident that all is ok, be selflessly driven.

I know 2011 is to be the best year yet
Because God is with us, we are guided, you can bet

So let there be all the natural disasters
Defeat is never, never ever going to be our masters

So give your effort, like no one knows
Because in your heart, and to others your friendship grows

Can you imagine no house and no clothes
No food on the table, no power, a cold that not many knows

Yes it has not been a good start to the year
But we the world, will get through this in more ways than one – with no fear.

Did You Know « 12/27/2010

Studies show that you can think yourself younger. In the Journal of Gerontology. The benefits of this has been proven that they are less likely to get ill than those who feel old. So never let the words “I am too old” pass your lips. (Well that is my motto anyway and it seems to work.)

According to Deepak Chopra people who alter their lifestyle significantly by eating better and exercising more and practising meditation cause changes affecting over 500 genes. Even a strong emotion may be enough to alter a gene, because brain cells secrete new chemicals for sadness, happiness, confidence or shyness when their genes tell them to.

As I am “Down under” at the moment I found this statistic rather interesting. According to the magazine Nature and Health that it is estimated that at least 900,000 Australians are kept awake every night by a snoring partner.

According to Animal behavior Science study – If you are aggressive by nature there is an increased likelihood that your dog will be too. The reverse is also true – Shy people are apparently more likely to have quiet, passive pups.

Watching a movie tonight? Pick a comedy. According to a British study, people will eat up to 30 percent more when they watch a sad film.

According to England’s Luton University, Redheads are less likely to care for other people’s opinions; Brunettes are more socially conservative, while blondes are 10 percent more likely to be outgoing.
