Did You Know – 11/09/2017

  1. According to the University of Manchester in the UK, loud music can make you feel happier. Be careful though they say, ‘too loud may risk permanent hearing damage’. I believe this survey to be true as I go into my ‘happy place’ when I put my ear buds in and listen to my music which I have to say is rather loud.

2. Good news for chocolate lovers. A British medical review of research on 114,000 people found that those who ate the most chocolate had a 37 percent decreased risk of developing heart disease and 29 percent decreased risk of suffering a stroke compared to those who ate less or abstained completely. 70% cacao is supposed to be the best for your health.

3. There is a way to outsmart a habit – US scientists say that up to 40% of your daily actions are actually habits formed over the years. It is basically your brains way of conserving effort or discomfort.  However you can outsmart them by trading an old habit for a new one such as replacing a sugar fix with a walk. Replacing a cigarette for a piece of chewing gum or maybe go work in the garden. It helps the brain believe you can change

4. I read this on the packet of Dr Sheffields toothpaste – Dr Sheffield was the inventor of toothpaste in a tube since 1850.

FLUORIDE IS A DRUG THAT CAN BE ACUTELY TOXIC IF SWALLOWED IN LARGE AMOUNTS.

You may know that fluoride can be found in your drinking water; however, you may not know that it is also in many processed beverages and foods containing water. Including juice, beer and even your morning cup of coffee. Currently, over 200 million American’s are dosed daily with fluoride making it the most widely distributed drug in America.

A SIMPLE CHOICE:

Did you know that the mucous membranes in the mouth allow chemicals to pass directly into the blood stream where they can accumulate into toxic levels.

Most of us in the modern chemical based world are constantly exposed to all sorts of toxic substances in the  air we breathe, in the water we drink (Plug for Kangen water) , and in the food we eat.   We should strive to eliminate any source of contamination that we can, and try to stay as toxin free as possible. We may not be able to control everything, but we can control what we choose to place in our mouth and the mouths of our children.

You can only buy this at a CVS store in America. Sorry everyone else,  but there are other brands that do not have fluoride in their toothpaste

5. The queen broke with protocol and allowed her troops to play the US national anthem for the first time ever during the changing of the guard ceremony as a tribute to the 9/11 victims and the Americans in England who were unable to return home.

These Strange Myths That Turned Out to Be True

1.Bohemian Grove is a real place.

This is the place where the world’s elite have gone on vacation since the late 19th century. Politicians, musicians, artists, and extremely wealthy individuals gather in Bohemian Grove to enjoy the best kinds of entertainment and also to carry out eerie mystical/religious rites. In the early 2000s, secretly filmed camera footage proved what the “Bohemian Club” refused to confirm: its mysterious meeting place is real, sparking new interest in the legends that have grown up around it.

2. Ernest Hemingway was convinced that the FBI was following him, but his friends and loved ones believed he was simply paranoid. Decades later, the FBI declassified some of its archives which show that the famous writer really was being tracked. This was the result of his connections with Cuba. Many people have argued that this situation led to Hemingway’s suicide.

3. Diamonds are not, in fact, that rare. This is essentially just an ordinary rock, and extracting it has become much less arduous over the past 150 years. However, over a long period of time, the De Beers company has controlled supplies of diamonds and has therefore been able to artificially raise the prices for them. They have been helped in this task by advertising campaigns depicting diamonds as extremely expensive precious stones that should always cost a large amount of money in order to be considered authentic.
Another ‘myth’ that’s true; coloured diamonds are worth more than white diamonds. This is the greatest fraud ever perpetrated as the colour is just impurities within the stone.

4. As long as it’s within a 3-mile radius of the British shore. All whales, dolphins, sturgeons, and porpoises within that radius belong to the Queen.

5. Kinder Surprise eggs, an Italian brand of egg-shaped chocolate candies containing a toy “surprise” inside, have been banned in the States since long before they were first manufactured in the early ’70s. That’s because the US has had a ban on candies with embedded toys since 1938

Study shows purified water is a detriment to the health of our body. Purified water is produced by deionization, distillation or reverse osmosis. It acidifies the body and leaches minerals and because of the sarge size and shape of its water molecule clusters it does to hydrate the body efficiently. Purified water should be used in humidifiers, fountains autoclaves and fish tanks. but not consumed by humans.

London Still pays  rent to the Queen on a property it leased in the 11th century. Every year a ceremony is held at the Royal courts of Justice and the city hands over its annual rent:- A Knife, An Axe, 6 horseshoes, and 61 nails  to Barbara Janet Fontaine, the Queen’s Remembrancer, the oldest judicial position in England. The job was created in the 12th century to keep track of all that was owed to the crown.

No one knows exactly where these two pieces of land are located anymore, but for hundreds of years the city has been paying rent on them. The rate, however, has not changed—the same objects have been presented for hundreds of years.

This striking volcanic plume Shiprock was formed around 30 million years ago, developing as a plug within the vent of an active volcano. Over time, the rest of the volcano eroded away, leaving the  jagged outcrop all alone in a vast expanse of plain. At over 1500 feet, it’s the tallest structure for miles and miles.

The structure is an epicenter of legend within the Navajo culture. “the rock with wings,” myth says that the Shiprock was a piece of land that became a bird, carrying the ancestral people of the Navajo on its back. At sundown, the enormous creature settled in its current desert location and promptly turned back to stone

Although the steep, perilous sides of the Shiprock were once considered a great prize among rock climbers, human ascents have been expressly off-limits since 1970, in accordance with Navajo custom.

Queen Mary 2nd and Her Captain

Photographer James Morgan decided to create something a bit special to mark the Queen Mary 2’s 10th anniversary.

When he first suggested placing Captain Kevin Oprey on the liner’s bulbous bow for the photo shoot, people apparently looked at him like he was ‘a bit mad’.

However, the idea was clearly inspired as the pictures look astonishing

The shoot took place at a port off the coast of Bali with two safety boats positioned nearby just in case.

Commenting on the striking images, Morgan said: ‘It is this towering creature and this little man, it is an incredible juxtaposition. He is an incredible man, this beautiful huge liner he controls every day.

‘It is one of the most epic shoots I have ever done.’

Did You Know – 08/20/2012

This is ‘Good To Know’ information.

Now this is information I do need. According to research from the university of Wisconsin at Madison, next time you are hunting for your keys or that book or any object, say the word out loud. The reason for this is that it helps engage more brain regions, which help boost the memory and hopefully find what you are looking for.

In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggest there is hard evidence that Drinking one soda a day will increase the stroke risk by 16%. Soda sweeteners and caramel coloring may lead to artery damage.
Solution maybe – Have black coffee instead as it may slash your stroke risk.

The three largest land-owners in England are the Queen, the Church of England and Trinity College, Cambridge.

While the Chinese invented gunpowder, they were not the first to develop firearms. Sam Colt invented the
“revolving pistol.” Therefore, all revolvers are correctly called pistols

“The good people in this world are very far from being satisfied with each other and my arms are the best peacemaker.” ~ Samuel Colt (1852)
Ironically, when Samuel Colt said those words almost 160 years ago, the Colt .45 Single Action Army (SAA) revolving cylinder handgun, made famous on the American frontier and the Old West as the Peacemaker, had not yet been invented. Still, he was well on his way to revolutionizing gun manufacturing in the United States.. Source
