Comparison of Popular Bottled Water, Reverse Osmosis and Tap Water With Kangen Water

Bottled water can pose health threats

The plastic in bottled water often contains chemicals BPA and phthalates, which are proven to be hazardous to human health.3

Bottled water is not proven to be any safer than tap water

The non-profit, non-partisan Environmental Working Group (EWG) says, “The government does not mandate that bottled water be any safer than tap water. In fact, the chemical pollution standards are nearly identical.” Historically, bottled waters have even been recalled for contamination with particulate matter, mold and bacteria.5

Further, as reported by ABC, environmental advocate Mae Wu has performed studies which show bottled is no safer or cleaner: There is actually more testing federally mandated on tap water than bottled. 100 compounds of tap water must be tested every day and the results posted online.6

Vanilla-Extract-Hero

1. If you have a strange odor in your home you can get rid of it in a matter of 20 minutes by pouring two tablespoons of pure vanilla essence into a pan and cook the vanilla at low heat on your stove top. Set a timer so that you don’t forget it and overdo the smell. Also if you want to rid a smell from your fridge you can also use vanilla. Just put some on a wet cloth and wipe the inside of your fridge and it will give your fridge a pleasant odor and be rid of that nasty musty smell.

2. Did you know the national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn.
A country’s ‘National Animal’ should represent the best, and defining, qualities of the nation who chose it.
Scots have a strong culture rich in superstitions, myths and legends.
So, choosing a heraldic symbol as awe-inspiring as the unicorn makes perfect sense!

3. A mentally ill young man who shot himself in the head in a suicide attempt suffered a brain injury that apparently eliminated his phobia of germs and his obsession with washing his hands, doctors say.

The .22-caliber slug destroyed the section of the brain responsible for his disabling obsessive-compulsive behavior without causing any other brain damage, his doctor said in a report in Physician’s Weekly, a British journal of psychiatry. Victims of the disorder typically have an inexplicable compulsion to repeat activities over and over.

The afflicted man, now a straight-A college student, tried to kill himself five years ago, when he was 19 years old, said Dr. Leslie Solyom, a psychiatrist at Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. Effects of His Behavior

4. Americans consume 300 million sandwiches a day.
With the price of peanut butter today, you may not believe it, but the PB&J offered a lot of nutrition for a low-cost. This was due in part to two crucial advances in food delivery, the development of the process for making peanut butter and the adoption of the process for pre-slicing and packaging bread. These two advances made the necessary ingredients readily available at a reasonable cost just in time to help feed the families struggling through the depression.
It is still the most popular sandwich.

Survive crisis No 4

The pilot announces that your plane must make an emergency  landing
(My worst fear)

airplane1rgb1

You always assume that if a plane goes down everyone dies. Not always the case. A good example is the landing of flight 1549 piloted by Captain Chesley Sullenberger in the Hudson river in 2009. All crew and passengers escaped alive.

Here are some things to think about before you book your ticket for a flight.

a. In 2007 Popular mechanic’s published an analysis of 36 years worth of airline seating charts and 20 accidents back to 1971. Passengers sitting behind the wings had a 69 percent survival rate in an accident. Those sitting over or in front of the wings have a 56 percent survival while in first class only 49%.
(I have always observed that in most plane accidents the tail is sticking up off the ground and mostly in reasonable condition so I assumed you had a better chance of survival if you were in the back). So the plane maybe a little bumpy back there but if you are traveling coach it may be a good idea to book a seat at the back. First Class well you would assume you would go head first into the ground. Die in style.

b. Not everyone including myself always listens to the emergency instructions at the beginning of the flight. Air New Zealand have a great video for this and use humor to attract your attention to the emergency instructions.
Anyway identify your nearest emergency exit before you take off. Count the number of rows ahead and behind to the nearest Exit. The reason for this is that it may be dark or smoky and unable to see and have to feel your way out of the plane.

c. Dress in practical easy to move clothing and shoes. Wear long pants, long sleeves and athletic shoes for best mobility. If you have to run from a burning plane across a muddy field you will find heels, clogs or flip-flops totally impractical.

d. If possible stow your carry on under the seat in front of you.
Your carry on in this position will protect your legs.
Rest your forehead on the seat in front of you and let your arms hang loose. This way your head will have minimum movement on impact.

e. Listen closely to the instructions from the Flight attendant. Do not question it is no time to argue. Follow those instructions to the letter

Seal A Gunshot Wound In 15 Seconds

incredible-yet-simple invention can seal a gunshot wound in 15 seconds 1

While the U.S. Defense Department is taking bold steps to embrace the latest technology in nearly every operational specialty, it might be the simplicity of a kitchen sponge that saves hundreds of lives every year.

The new battlefield gadget is called X-STAT, and it uses a novel twist on simple science, offering a different way to treat deep gun shot wounds that have plagued military medics for years.

The sponges work fast: In just 15 seconds, they expand to fill the entire wound cavity, creating enough pressure to stop heavy bleeding, reports Popular Science. Keeping the technology simple is hugely important in the chaotic, pre-hospital environment. RevMedx designed the XSTAT to literally be plug-and-play.

The dime-sized expanding sponges – which are made from standard medical-grade sponges and covered with a hemostatic agent – are injected into the wound with the plastic tube and immediately expand to stop the bleeding. And because the sponges cling to moist surfaces, they can’t be pushed back out of the body by gushing blood.

RevMedx claims uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of death on the battlefield and the second leading cause of death in civilian trauma. According to a report published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, the highest percentage of survivable battlefield deaths from 2001-2009 came from major trauma hemorrhage.

RevMedx, founded in 2009, focused their research on solving the problem of “non-compressible hemorrhage,” and believes their modified syringe that injects specially coated sponges into wounds will be the solution:

“A significant number of wounds occur to regions of the torso where compression cannot be applied, such as the pelvis or shoulder … By working closely with the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and US Special Operations Command, we succeeded in developing a novel hemostatic dressing capable of stopping high-flow arterial bleeding within seconds without external compression.”
RevMedx recently petitioned the FDA for approval of their invention, Popular Science reports. The company claims XSTAT could boost survival rates and spare injured soldiers from additional pain.

“The core technology behind the XSTAT dressing is mini-sponges that expand upon contact with blood — resulting in a nearly immediate hemostatic effect without manual compression,” the RevMedx site states. “We are incorporating this self-expanding sponge technology into a portfolio of hemostatic dressings to treat a wide range of wound types.”

The DoD Hemorrhage and Resuscitation Research and Development Program portfolio manager said the XSTAT provides the military with a totally new way to save lives, according to the Army. “It is a capability that has never existed before, and can be used in the field setting by medics, possibly even with buddy aid,” Dr. Anthony Pusateri said.
