Something to Make You Smile

The Queensland Country Lawyer…

Joe grew up in a small town in outback Queensland, then moved to Brisbane to attend law school. He decided to come back to the country town because he felt he could be a big shot at home. He really wanted to impress everyone, so he returned and opened his new law office.

The first day he saw a man coming up the side walk. He decided to make a big impression on this new client when he arrived. As the man came to the door, Joe picked up the phone. He motioned the man in, all the while talking on the phone.

“No. Absolutely not! You tell those clowns in Sydney that we won’t settle this case for less than one million… Yes, the Court of Appeal has agreed to hear that case next week. I’ll be handling the Primary arguments and the other members of my team will provide support! Okay, tell the Attorney General that I’ll meet with him next week to discuss the details…”

The ‘conversation’ went on for almost five minutes. All the while the man sat patiently as Joe rattled instructions.

Finally, Joe put down the phone and turned to the man, “I’m sorry for the delay but as you can see, I’m very busy. What can I do for you?”

The man replied, “I’m from Telstra, (Phone Company in Australia)  and I came to hook up your phone!”

  1. Grass-fed butter nutrition is even more impressive than regular butter nutrition – When saturated fat is obtained from healthy sources in moderation, like grass-fed butter and coconut oil, it provides the body much-needed fuel and helps with blood sugar stability. When it comes to cholesterol concerns,  low cholesterol levels are worse than high for many people. By consuming grass-fed butter, you directly increase your intake of butyric acid, which science has shown can decrease inflammation. One of the specific ways it has been shown to decrease inflammation is in the intestines of people with Crohn’s disease.

2.  3 Benefits of Eating Liver – This is amazing to me as I love liver always knew it was healthy but because most of my family do not like it I got out of the habit of eating it.  Have to start again.

The benefits are:-

a.  Loaded with Vitamin B12

b. High Source of Other B Vitamins

c.  Prevents Anemia

3. By hitting someone with a stick you could prevent them from being electrocuted. Getting a shock causes your muscles to tense up, it can prevent a person holding a live wire from being able to let go. If you can’t turn off the source of electricity, you can help them by finding a long hard object, like a stick and whacking them with it to break the circuit.

They can also alert you to texts and phone calls or buzz when you are running late.

5. Freddie Mercury really loved cats. He had a vest with portraits of his cats painted on it, wrote songs about some of them and had albums dedicated to not only his favorite cats, but to all the cat lovers across the universe. At one point he lived with as many as 10 in Garden Lodge, Mercury’s walled mansion in Kensington. While he travelled with the band, the cats stayed put in London, making it his favourite home of the many houses he had around the world.

His 1985 debut solo album, Mr Bad Guy, was dedicated to Jerry, half of his first pair, Tom and Jerry, that moved in when Mercury and his then-girlfriend Mary Austin bought them. Although Austin and Mercury split in the late Seventies, he continued to see Tom and Jerry and his feline fascination continued – as did his friendship with Austin, who gave him Tiffany, a longhaired bluepoint, a few years later.

Delilah. The inspiration for the song of the same name, the tabby was adopted and swiftly took to ruling the roost, demanding food and Mercury’s attention in equal measure. There was truth in the lyrics “when you throw a moody you’re all claws and you bite!” and “when you pee all over my Chippendale Suite”.

Photoscan Those Analog Photo’s – Using Phone

Photoscan

If you’re over the age of, say, 20, odds are you have some old analog photo prints laying around. Instead of buying a scanner to digitize them, use the highly capable camera in your phone and the PhotoScan app from Google. It uses specialized algorithms to detect edges, correct perspective, rotate as needed, and stitch multiple exposures together to get rid of glare. It also integrates seamlessly with Google Photos, and as with nearly all software from Mountain View, it’s completely free.

Snowden – Hero or Traitor

rhpvc-dh

Just thought I would mention this movie on Edward Snowden (who was an employee of the NSA) that I went and saw on the weekend. Hero or Traitor? In my opinion he was a Hero. I want my Grandchildren to know who they are up against in their future.

I remember years ago when I was about 25 yrs old I used to get these conspiracy letters from some fellow (can’t remember his name now) that lived in Western Australia.
Most of it I found disturbing, only to find as the years went by, all that he predicted came to fruition.
Example was smart cards, credit cards and ID cards that let big brother know your every move every day. Machines would photograph you evey-time you made a withdrawal or deposit. What you buy, where you buy, when you buy, what time you buy where you buy fuel what fuel station where you are traveling. That eventually your computers will be spying on you. You will have a number attached to your body and soul.
I ended up cancelling my subscription to this news letter as I found it far too depressing.
I personally had no idea that all that he wrote was either happening or eventually did happen.

You could say, “well I have nothing to hide it does not bother me” but after you see this movie I think that you may consider covering up the camera lens on your computer especially if you have it in the bedroom or hotel room.
Also know that your mobile phone is a tracking device for everyone in your family.

Oliver Stone directed this movie.Oliver Stone has also made many great movies like ‘Platoon’, ‘Born on the Fourth of July’,’Wall Street’ and many others.
The surveillance by the NSA that Snowden uncovered, was and is illegal. I believe him to be a very gutsy millennial who in my opinion was brilliant and thrust into a world that was bewildering, stressful and fearful for him to comprehend and not expose.

Look I believe everyone should go see this movie. It is compelling and parts of it will shock you into taking better care of your privacy.

If you can’t get to the movies then as soon as it comes out on video you need to get it.

Found A Deal With Ting.com – Save On Phone Charges

I am always looking for a deal – found one. Well someone told us about it so I checked it out.

phonehysteria-296x300

A phone company called ‘Ting‘. Best thing since sliced bread I believe. Only available for those in the States though (Sorry Aussie’s you are stuck with those uncompetitive, unco-operative phone companies and paying through the nose). We anticipate that we will save $50 a month at least, and we were already on a discounted program. The nice thing about it, you pay for what you use and you can go on the website and check up on your usage at anytime. (I know some companies offer this as well)

This is not one of those money making sales pitches.  The only benefit  is it does offer the usual ‘refer a friend’ and if someone joins you do get $50 off your phone bill. It is only a ‘one off’ thing.

We had a small problem in changing over and received instant help from someone who spoke the English we are used to (like from our own country – being USA).

If you are interested in saving on your phone bills it is worth checking out and compare with the company you are dealing with at the present moment. Better in your pocket than theirs.

Make sure you click on this link because it is worth $25 off a device or $25 in Ting credit to you when you sign up.

1. Sandflies are attracted to dark colors? To keep bites at bay this summer wear light colored clothing, avoid sweet smelling body products and use insect repellent – especially around the ankles as they sart their attack at ground level.
2. Massoud Hassani, a product designer from Afghanistan, built (by hand) a wind-powered device that trips land mines as it rolls across the ground. It is made using bamboo and biodegradable products.
Many of these mines are active and near populated areas in countries like Afghanistan and are hard to remove. The UN says that one mine clearance specialist is killed, and two injured, for every 5,000 mines cleared.

Hassani’s cheap and easy to make method has been achieving great results.

5. If your mobile phone is practically glued to your hand beware of ‘Text neck’ . Looking down at a screen for long periods can cause postural changes that affect the neck and spine, which can lead to nerve damage, muscle spasms and pain.
