Tips for Safe Online Shopping

This was sent to me via the Trustmartk Bank and thought it was worth passing this on as I believe it to be good advice to secure your online shopping experience.

Tips for Safe Online Shopping

There is good news and bad news for consumers that shop online or use a retailer’s custom mobile application.

The good news is there are plenty of available bargains online and through a retailer’s mobile app. Shopping has never been easier or more convenient. In fact, consumers are spending more than two hours per day on mobile apps.

The bad news is shopping online or with a mobile device has risks. Unscrupulous people attempt to take advantage of unwary shoppers. In the virtual world, it can be difficult to distinguish reputable retailers from criminals. Thieves can easily set up a fraudulent website or mobile app that appears to be a legitimate business and attempt to swindle you out of your sign-in credentials or credit card information.

Shopping online and via mobile apps requires special precautions:
Use familiar websites and only download apps from trusted enterprise app stores.
Use strong passwords. A complex password can be the best security defense you have.
Use a good anti-virus and anti-malware program. It is critical that online shoppers secure their devices from viruses and other attacks.
Share payment information only with known or reputable vendors.
Use a credit card instead of a debit card. Credit cards can be the safer choice for online shopping—if someone manages to intercept your financial information online, they can do less damage, and you have more recourse than if you’d used a debit card.
Make sure the order checkout area is encrypted. Make sure the vendor uses SSL (secure socket layers) technology to encrypt information. Look for the URL that begins with “https:”; instead of “http:”.
Print or save a copy of your orders and keep it until you receive your product and verify the transaction on your monthly statement.
Buyer beware. If the offer looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Approaching online shopping with a little bit of skepticism can enable consumers to reap the benefits of convenience while limiting the exposure to security threats.

  • Benefits of a bad mood is not all bad news. A mild bad or sad mood helps us cope with the not so good times. Often its a sign of a time that patience, compassion an understanding is needed from friend and family. That is the research done by Joseph Paul Forgas a professor of psychology at the University of New South Wales in Australia. His research also shows to improve memory and motivate us to try harder and make less judgments. Sadness has long been a trigger for artistic creativity and Bad moods help us be focused and difficult on difficult situations.

  • That the organ that loves red wine the most is the brain. Of course you did. The reasons being that compounds found in red wine protect neurons against cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s . Scientists from the institute of food Science Research in Spain discovered that up to 250mls of red wine daily can prevent brain cells from dying when put under stress and cell death is what causes cognitive decline. In addition to a daily glass of red, the lead researcher backed a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated fats.

  • You can die from pooping too hard –  A Norwegian scientist published the first case report on the relationship back in 1968. It is a rare condition called defecation syncope. Since you’re holding air in your lung cavity, you end up compromising your blood flow. As a result, less blood travels to your heart and to your brain, leading to a drop in blood pressure.  If blood flow to the heart is compromised—especially in someone who already has some artery blockages—that can be enough to trigger a heart attack,  People with heart disease or blood pressure disorders, or who take meds for hypertension, are more at risk.  Healthy guys don’t have to worry

  1. Global Warming – Hmmmm maybe notDid you know that NASA reported today that the amount of ice in the Antartica is growing. (Varney – Fox news)

The new Antarctic sea ice record reflects the diversity and complexity of Earth’s environments, said NASA researchers. Claire Parkinson, a senior scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, has referred to changes in sea ice coverage as a microcosm of global climate change. Just as the temperatures in some regions of the planet are colder than average, even in our warming world, Antarctic sea ice has been increasing and bucking the overall trend of ice loss.

“The planet as a whole is doing what was expected in terms of warming. Sea ice as a whole is decreasing as expected, but just like with global warming, not every location with sea ice will have a downward trend in ice extent,” Parkinson said.

I Have Dipped My Toe In

Dip Your Toe

Once again my friend has sent me an opportunity that I think is worth the “Risk”. Risk I say, Of course there is risk involved, but how high do you rate such risk if the cost of participating is only $50 one-time?

I guess you have all heard of Bitcoin and at the moment they are hovering $490 – $90 more than 10 days ago. For many this is a buying opportunity. For some they would not touch them.

But what if you don’t want to “ride the tiger” that is Bitcoin? Is there any other way you could profit from it, other than actually buying it?

Yes, there is.

One avenue there is high hopes for is GBBG – a group of Bitcoin developers who are working on a number of exciting projects.

You can get an idea as to what they have planned in this blog post:

http://www.bitbillions.com/gbbg-is-all-about-believing-in-blockchain/

The good news is you can become a co-founder of this group for a very modest one-time fee, and stand to gain should their projects yield profits.

As I said there is risk involved, but how high do you rate such risk if the cost of participating was $40 one-time, it is now $50 one time. The reason why the amount has risen to $50 is that they are increasing the price by $10 every 250 people. I paid the $50, I was too slow.

GBBG is running this crowd-funding project through their member portal – BitBillions, and you can learn more from the link below:

http://www.bitbillions.com/?refid=1GWU5M6iUQCpVZqck8TfWQXQPpEpA5piyw

You can register for free, look around, and if you like what you see you can upgrade to co-founder within the member area.

Check it out you have nothing to lose

Ohio Man Buried Riding His Harley-Davidson Motorcycle

This is a wonderful story written in the Dayton Daily News. What a great effort for the family they should be proud of themselves.

_hz

Billy Standley started planning to be buried astride his 1967 motorcycle about 18 years ago. His family carried out his wish Friday with a large Plexiglas casket.

As far back as his family can remember, Standley said he was going to be buried astride his Harley Davidson Electra Glide. They said the motorcycle helped him retain his sense of adventure after he settled down to raise four children in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, — quite a compromise for the man who made his start at the tender age of 13 as a ranch hand and rodeo rider.

Standley began making the burial plans because when he died he didn’t just want to ride to heaven, he wanted the whole world to see him do it in a see-through coffin. This required a lot of preparation, and even more gumption.

He was a quirky man,” Brown said. “But when it comes to us kids, he loved us, he raised us well and, of course, we wanted to help him.”

He started by buying three extra burial plots at the Fairview Cemetery in Mutual, Ohio, next to his wife, Lorna. The land was big enough for the 9-by-11-foot cement septic tank able to accommodate his bike. His sons, Pete and Roy, fashioned the casket out of Plexiglas, reinforcing the bottom with wood and steel rods to handle the extra weight. For five years, it sat in Standley’s garage and “if you stopped by his house, he showed you his casket,” Roy Standley said.

He was proud of it
His forethought proved advantageous after Standley was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year. Even as his mind wandered, his children or friends couldn’t forget his final wishes. When Standley succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 82, his plan rolled into action.

The burial might have been bizarre, and a bit shocking, to those in Mechanicsburg, his family agreed. But they also know it’s only natural that Standley would want to make an entrance when he meets his maker.

He’d done right by us all these years, and at least we could see he goes out the way he wanted to,” Pete Standley said.
