Poem Friday – 05/03/2019 – Megsy We Will Miss That Happy Wiggly Bum❤️

April has not been a good Dog Month for me

I guess it’s better  Gods plan is  that the future ahead we cannot see

My friends dog  Megsy, a lovable Staffy

Such a character and in her dragon jacket looked very sassy

Megsy passed away very peaceful indeed

Cancer had invaded her little body with great speed

Her last years  with Linda were wonderful for her and they made a good pair

A rescue  dog, for many years she lived with loneliness and despair.

She was a great addition to that skinner household

She was given so much love, and love Megsy returned ten fold

She was a comfort to Linda in times that were not so good

Megsy could make her smile and laugh as only Megsy could

She was a social butterfly, Morning coffee at the local bakery she sat

Little bum and tail wagging with the glee of  the occasional pat

I will miss dear Megsy who was going deaf and a little blind

Could hear my motorbike come down the road, meant to be deaf,  bear in mind

She gave us all pleasure and I am sure we gave her some

Megsy we will miss that happy Wiggly Bum

Poem Friday On Thursday – Happy Birthday Rich

Happy Birthday Rich
Author – Lesley Voth

What can I say about my friend who is a ‘Rock Star’
We have together had many a beer at many, many a bar

I love and cherish his friendship, would trust him with my life
Loyal and faithful to his friends and especially his lovely wife

We have been on many long rides together on our motorbikes
Smoked a cigar, whisky or two, got to know some of his dislikes

His long hair, like very long hair, is his pride and joy
Longer than most men in the shower, conditioning, to protect not destroy

Yep our boy he is a bit of a flirt, but the entertainment we totally enjoy
The girls love him, they give him that come hither smile, smooth our charismatic playboy

He has no love for water, you can be sure you will never see him in a pool
Doesn’t like to be splashed, will enjoy watching with beer in hand on a bar stool

He goes to the gym and has muscles like Popeye who ate all his spinach
Speaks fluent spanish, good-looking Dad, appears to come from a strong lineage.

We know you are bike less at the moment and that is a bitch
But you are very special to us and we love you.
Happy Birthday Rich

Poem Friday – Best Day Of The Week So To Speak

I love Fridays

Best Days Of The Week So To Speak
Author: Lesley Voth

Friday again how I love this day
It’s a time I love cause its an excuse in a way

To find a reason why I can make it a day of play
I have been to the gym, worked off a few calories I would say

In a couple of hours I am off to have lunch
I meet with my girlfriends, an enjoyable bunch

We are actually going to the Cheesecake factory
I love the salads, heaps of calories but very satisfactory

After that I treat myself to a movie in a theatre close by
“Killing them softly” Brad Pitt is in it that is why

Then I will join my husband for a cigar and a small drink
With our friend Bob and some others I think

I love Fridays because it’s the end of the week
Tomorrow I am riding my motorbike to Austin, weather looks good not bleak
Yes I love Fridays the best day of the week so to speak.

Poem Friday – 11/16/2012 – Summer! Already I miss You

Author: Lesley Voth

Summer is gone and winter is almost here
No sun on my body, tan rapidly going – oh dear

I love the warmth of Summer I do not like the cold
The trees lose their leaves, they look bare and old

It’s hard to get out in morning and leave that warm bed
I go to the gym at 5am, its freezing, I have a screw loose in my head

Really, I don’t drive a car, I go on my motorbike
I plug-in my heated vest, the heat I do like

But my nose gets cold and the wind on my legs
My mind wanders to my breakfast of Bacon and eggs

I have already put on the pounds before I get to the gym
But i guess that’s what happens in winter, one forgets about being slim

Now there is a few good things that winter brings about
Crisp fresh air, good for the lungs and make the nips standout

Winter is a season that makes us love the sky blue
But Summer! Already I Miss You

Poem Friday « The Trip To Sturgis « 8/27/2010

The Trip To Sturgis
Author: Lesley Voth

Every year we ride from Houston to South Dakota
Only stop for fuel, a drink, then off on our bikes we motor

Two and a half days of riding to get there
Fantastic roads, great weather, the wind in our hair.

Our bikes all trim and prepared for the trip
1400 miles to the Spearfish Township

This is an annual trip to the Sturgis Rally
The Motorbikes that go there is about a 500,000 tally

People from around the world and many nations
skimpily clad women, dressed in fabulous creations

Guys with their decked out bike
New inventions, colors, hot motors, many I like

Bob our friend and I, test rode a trike
With Bob at the wheel, that insecure feeling I did not like

We decided it wasn’t the bike for us
We rode many more and that was a bonus

The roads are just made for bikes in the Blackhills
Great curves, road conditions requiring nerve and taught skills

The steep roads, scenery and canyons, fast roads and cops
Lucky for us , going the other way. The feeling is tops

We rode the Bears tooth pass at Yellow Stone Park
Crazy steep, narrow road, we stopped at the 9,000 ft landmark.

The riding we experience on these roads
The great beauty, the breathtaking scenery is not easy to unload

Unless you see it, and feel it to the core
A lot of pictures and explanations to others, is a bore.

A wonderful time but now the trip home
Back to reality no more to roam

Back to Texas was as hot as hell
When we got to a friend’s place, clothes and all in the pool I fell.

Man, that heat is cruel and draining
It was good to get home as my energy was waning.

What a wonderful experience that trip to the Rally
Meet our Canadian friends Joe and Crystal, for 8 years, that’s the tally

We have lots of fun and laughter
Lots of stories told many times after
