Coffee Doesn’t Actually Count Toward Your Daily Water Intake

My husband is of the belief that his cups of coffee per day also count as his eight cup requirement for the day but I beg to differ and this article confirms it. You still need to consume 8 – 10 glasses of water per day for proper hydration. Coffee of course has other benefits so drink up that aromatic kick ass pleasurable moment.

According to Courtney Schuchmann, MS, RD, LDN,” coffee may actually have a dehydrating effect on our bodies if we don’t consume enough water in addition to it. Schuchmann does not recommend cutting coffee out of our daily routine since it has many possible health benefits such as “reduced risk of colorectal cancer, improved bowel movements, and improved liver regeneration for those with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH).” She suggests we continue with our daily coffee consumption “since studies have found that individuals who drink more coffee per day typically have lower incidence of the above mentioned diseases,” but to ensure that if our goal is to drink eight to 10 cups of water a day, that our coffee intake is in addition to that.”

Dr. Susan Lark on Kangen Water®
“Drinking four to six glasses of alkaline water a day will help to neutralize over acidity and over time will help to restore your buffering ability. Alkaline water should be used when conditions of over acidity develop, such as cold, flu or bronchitis. Like vitamins C, E and Beta Carotene, alkaline water acts as an antioxidant because of its excess supply of free electrons. This can help the body against the development of heart disease, strokes, immune dysfunctions, and other common ailments.”

“The benefits of the alkaline water created through electrolysis far exceed just its ability to gently raise the pH of the cells and tissues of the body and to neutralize acids. Because the alkaline water has gained a significant number of free electrons through the electrolysis process, it is able to donate these electrons to active oxygen free radicals in the body, thereby becoming a super antioxidant. By donating its excess free electrons, alkaline water is able to block the oxidation of normal tissue by free oxygen radicals.”

Dr. Susan Lark is one of the foremost authorities in the fields of clinical nutrition and preventive medicine. A graduate of Northwestern University Medical School, she has served on the clinical faculty of Stanford University Medical School, and taught in their Division of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Lark is a distinguished clinician, author, lecturer and innovative product developer. Through her extensive clinical experience, she has been an innovator in the use of self-care treatments such as diet, nutrition, exercise and stress management techniques in the field of women’s health, and has lectured extensively throughout the United States on topics in preventive medicine. She is the author of 13 best-selling books on women’s health including The Chemistry of Success.
Coffee may actually be hydrating, according to Dr. Luiza Petre, a board-certified cardiologist. “It seems hydration is not offset by the diuretic effect of coffee. Our body quickly compensates for the caffeine, so coffee has an overall hydrating effect.” However, she does not recommend making coffee our only source of hydration and adds that that we should consume no more than three to four cups (and no more than 400 mg of caffeine) a day.
If we’re pouring in sugary additives or full-fat milk, our coffee may not be as healthy or hydrating. The best way to drink your coffee is black, and if that’s too much to handle, try adding some cinnamon or a touch of honey for added sweetness.

So the end story is you still need to drink 8 – 10 glasses of water as well as your coffee and of course I recommend Kangen Water especially for  that  extra boost to the taste.  You will notice the difference between tap water and Kangen water.

Drinking coffee can help cut the risk of cancer

Drinking coffee can cut the risk of cancer

DRINKING three to five cups of coffee a day reduces the risk of liver cancer, scientists have found.
By MARK REYNOLDS
Thu, Nov 16, 2017

It can also cut the risk of cirrhosis and liver disease by up to 70 percent.

A review of American and Italian research concluded that “moderate” consumption slashed the risk of liver cancer by 40 percent compared with those who did not drink any coffee – with more cups giving more protection.

It found coffee was associated with an even greater reduction in the risk of cirrhosis, of between 25 and 70 percent.

The risk of chronic liver disease was reduced by 25 to 30 percent in low coffee consumers and up to 65 percent in those who drank a lot. Coffee protects the liver due to a combination of effects caused by its constituents, the review team concluded.

  1. Grass-fed butter nutrition is even more impressive than regular butter nutrition – When saturated fat is obtained from healthy sources in moderation, like grass-fed butter and coconut oil, it provides the body much-needed fuel and helps with blood sugar stability. When it comes to cholesterol concerns,  low cholesterol levels are worse than high for many people. By consuming grass-fed butter, you directly increase your intake of butyric acid, which science has shown can decrease inflammation. One of the specific ways it has been shown to decrease inflammation is in the intestines of people with Crohn’s disease.

3. By hitting someone with a stick you could prevent them from being electrocuted. Getting a shock causes your muscles to tense up, it can prevent a person holding a live wire from being able to let go. If you can’t turn off the source of electricity, you can help them by finding a long hard object, like a stick and whacking them with it to break the circuit.

5. Freddie Mercury really loved cats. He had a vest with portraits of his cats painted on it, wrote songs about some of them and had albums dedicated to not only his favorite cats, but to all the cat lovers across the universe. At one point he lived with as many as 10 in Garden Lodge, Mercury’s walled mansion in Kensington. While he travelled with the band, the cats stayed put in London, making it his favourite home of the many houses he had around the world.

His 1985 debut solo album, Mr Bad Guy, was dedicated to Jerry, half of his first pair, Tom and Jerry, that moved in when Mercury and his then-girlfriend Mary Austin bought them. Although Austin and Mercury split in the late Seventies, he continued to see Tom and Jerry and his feline fascination continued – as did his friendship with Austin, who gave him Tiffany, a longhaired bluepoint, a few years later.

Delilah. The inspiration for the song of the same name, the tabby was adopted and swiftly took to ruling the roost, demanding food and Mercury’s attention in equal measure. There was truth in the lyrics “when you throw a moody you’re all claws and you bite!” and “when you pee all over my Chippendale Suite”.

The Movement Of Qi And Its Association With Sleep Cycle

woman-sleeping

More often than not, we are told to swallow some pills if there is something wrong in our bodies, but that does not necessarily fix it; as there may be a deeper, more psychological issue that is manifested into the physical ills we have.

Traditional Chinese Medicine And Qi
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) says that your body runs on a clock with energy highways or meridians called ‘Qi’, which also run everywhere on Earth. The Qi in our bodies transport and keep vitals such as, blood, adrenaline, and other fluids in constant circulation, including carrying emotional elements.

So, when your body is well, it means that your body’s Qi is flowing smoothly, but when you are sick or ill, it means that your Qi is being blocked in some parts of your body or is low in circulation overall.

The Movement Of Qi

Qi is said to move every two hours, stopping at different parts of the body each time, till the organ reaches its optimum level, and then it goes to the next stop. However, when one organ reaches its peak, an organ or body part in the opposite side of the body reaches the lowest level, to balance the act.

The Transfer Of Energy – Yin and Yang

Likewise, when ‘Qi’ passes through, what takes place during those two hours is, Yin – getting energy and Yang – releasing energy. Yes, this is one of the many meanings of Yin-Yang, that black and white circular symbol you so often see.

Lungs issues. It is related to sadness.

Solution

This means that there is a need for you to let go of these emotions, and reconnect with a more positive side of yourself.
Think of this low mood as a trying reason for you to find a higher purpose in life, and uplift your spirits.
Between 5 am To 7 am

Organ Affected And Association

Large intestine issues. It is associated with emotional blocks such as regret, guilt, lethargy, or being stuck in a constant emotional state.

Solution

Drink enough water.
Do some stretches.
Regulate the times you use the bathroom.
Eventually, set a sleeping routine.
Things are never always what they seem and if we are waking up at odd hours of the night, these could be some reasons for that wake-up call. The key is to interpret and see what these signs mean, try to get to the root of the issue and smoothen the Qi again, beyond just popping a pill to fix everything.

Eliminate Age Spots the Natural Way

safe_image.php
Also known as sun spots, age spots, liver spots, or brown spots, dark age spots are caused when too much melanin/ skin pigment develops in certain regions. The spots typically appear on the face, neck, chest, back, hands, and shoulders. Research reveals that they’re caused by the sun’s UV rays, vitamin deficiency, aging, stress, genetics, and weak liver functioning. The following are natural ways of getting rid of these spots:

1. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has acidic properties that help to remove the excess melanin. Applying fresh lemon juice on the affected regions two times a day for at least two months clears the spots. Those with sensitive skin ought to dilute the fresh fruit juice by adding honey, fresh water, or rose water.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Due to its strong bleaching action, it’s recommended to mix apple cider vinegar with honey, orange juice, or water. The mixture should be applied twice every day and then washed off with warm water after it has dried.

3. Buttermilk

The main ingredient in buttermilk is lactic acid that has exfoliating properties. It gets rid of the dark spots without making the skin dry. Apply the remedy using a cotton ball, leave it for several minutes to dry, and then rinse with clean water. Repeat procedure two times a day.

4. Castor Oil

Take a cotton ball, apply the oil on the affected areas and give it five minutes before you rinse it off with clean water. The natural oil also moisturizes the skin thus minimizing any dryness.

5. Almond Oil

Applying almond oil on the spots in the morning and before going to bed will get rid of the dark spots. For better results, the oil can be mixed with olive oil or castor oil. Expect visible results in a couple of weeks.

6. Sandalwood

Sandalwood has strong anti-aging properties and is useful for removing age or dark spots. Sandalwood powder should be mixed with one teaspoon juice, one teaspoon glycerin, and two teaspoons rose water. You can also include two capsules of vitamin E or two teaspoons of orange juice.

7. Aloe Vera

Apart from eliminating the dark spots, Aloe Vera also helps in skin regeneration. Apply fresh pieces of the plant on the affected region and leave for at least 30 minutes. This process should be done in the morning and late at night using either the gel or juice forms. Expect results in a month.

There are other useful natural home remedies like tomato juice, onion juice, papaya, sugar cubes, and coconut oil.

Although they are entirely harmless, dark or brown spots make people quite uncomfortable and embarrassed about their skin. The above methods can primarily help such people to enjoy radiant skin by clearing the spots in the affected regions. The best thing about the natural remedies for treating dark age spots is that they have no side effects.

3. Consuming coffee daily can drastically decrease your chances of developing liver cancer and disease
Italian researcher Dr. Carlo La Vecchia, Milan’s Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri conducted a study that shows consuming at least one cup of coffee daily can lower the risk of liver cancer by 40%! Additionally, some results showed that if you drink three cups a day, the risks reduce by more than 50%. According to a study at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program, coffee consumption can lower the incidence of cirrhosis of the liver for alcohol drinkers by 22%. Research also showed that drinking more than two cups of coffee daily reduce the risk of death from liver cirrhosis by 66%.

4. Whistle While You Work: Music can Enhance Your Work Performance?

Listening to music during work is frowned upon However, music can actually help your work performance?
The researchers found that listening did improve task performance on simple tasks, but not on complex tasks (Oldham 1995). Nonetheless, for the employees that listened to music, the music made them more relaxed and in a better mood at work. The researchers also found that the employees that listened to music were less likely to quit (Oldham 1995).

It seems carefully tailoring the music you listen to while studying, based on the subject matter and your mood, can help keep you focused — so long as you stay away from lyrics while doing language-based work.

People who often find their mind wandering have too much brain. Specifically, the easily distracted tended to have more grey matter. So says Ryota Kanai and his colleagues at University College London, who found larger than average volumes of grey matter in certain brain regions in those whose attention is readily diverted.

6. Why we fear the things we do

The amygdala is probably one of the smallest structures in the human brain. It’s just a tiny mass of neurons (Bailey, 2014). It’d be easy to dismiss it, but you shouldn’t-and here’s why. The amygdala has a lot on its plate. For one, it controls the secretion of hormones that are responsible for fear and aggression (Bailey, 2014). It also interacts with the hippocampus to deal with your memory (Bailey, 2014). It’s no wonder, then, that the amygdala is what is responsible for controlling your phobias.
Is it something innately born, the answer is probably not. The research conducted shows that a genetic link is highly unlikely (Goode, 2015). It’s much more likely that phobias are the product of our environment or experiences.

The Supermarket: Questionable Products On The Shelf

reading-the-ingredients

This is an article that was sent to me and on checking it they are spot on with their information. Sometimes these people go over board with this sort of information but in this case I think it is worth considering:-  Check labeling on packaging or better still don’t buy anything in packets or tins where possible. Buy organic or alternatively grow a vegetable garden if you have the space and plant fruit trees.  Buy real food and make healthy drinks

Supermarket Shelf : Read what you eat and drink.

Anybody who takes Vitamin C (most people should) – avoid the following soft drinks: Sunkist, Fanta, Diet Coke, Sprite, & Pepsi Max.

These drinks contain Sodium Benzoate 211 on the label. A chemical reaction between Vitamin C and Sodium Benzoate creates Benzine, a highly Carcinogenic chemical.

Benzine has the ability to severely damage the DNA in the Mitochondria (powerhouses of the cells. They generate the energy that our cells need to do their jobs. For example, brain cells) to the point that it totally inactivates it, knocks it out altogether. The Mitochondria consumes oxygen to give you energy, and if you damage it, the cell starts to malfunction very seriously, often fatally. A whole array of Diseases has been tied to the damage to the DNA, including
Parkinson’s Disease and quite a lot of neuro-degenerative diseases..

This is a follow-up to the TV stations’ story on Mentos and Diet Coke. Don’t mix these two, they cause a chemical reaction (explosion) in the stomach. It’s not only Mentos but also any mint products. Mint Life Savers, Tic Tac’s, Cool Mint’s, etc. The Mint is not the culprit here but the Aspartame in the diet drinks, 951 on the label. Also avoid 950
Acelsultame F (same thing). Aspartame poisoning has been scientifically linked to 92 Symptoms of disease.

Avoid all Toothpastes made in China! Especially Colgate. They contain Ethylene Glycol. This is an anti-freezing agent, highly toxic and even fatal. It destroys the liver, kidney, lung, blood cells, heart and the nervous system. It is also in some mouth washes, make-up, aftershave, baby powder and wipes, shampoo, and deodorants.

Avoid Smarties; they contain almost every toxic artificial colour on the market. To top it off Smarties are not even made of chocolate. Synthetic chocolate has no nutritional food value whatsoever.
