4.  That flavor is a marker for the uncontaminated nutritional value of your food – Chemical Technology has developed a smoke screen for bad quality food by masking the flavor with a inferior quality ingredients to make the food taste great with no nutritional value. The great taste and aroma can fool consumers to think they are eating food of wholesome quality. Hence we have continued history of increased bad health and obesity .

My saying which is probably not the best example being sausages. If you are having a meal of just sausage you will probably only eat one. Put tomato sauce on them you will probably eat a whole lot more. Reason being the salt and sugar and additives in the tomato sauce will stimulate your taste buds. Just sayin.

5. Mushrooms are more closely related to humans than they are to plants – The major difference between a plant (vegetable) and mushroom is how they acquire their food. In the case of plants, they possess chlorophyll and make their food via photosynthesis. Fungi, on the other hand, exist on decaying material in nature. Also the obvious structural differences, such as lack of leaves, roots, and seeds. So fungi now have their own kingdom on the basis of cellular organization.

???????????????????????????????????????????

You probably already know this but some  don’t. Research by European Journal of Applied Physiology shows that a hard workout can be salve for achy joints. It has shown that those with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis that sweated through 30 minutes of indoor cycling intervals twice a week slashed indicators of the pain causing inflammation in their blood by an average of nearly 40% after 10 weeks. They also lost weight and body fat and their stamina also improved. High intensity training releases a hormone that helps convert unhealthy white fat to calorie burning brown fat.
The University of California have also discovered a molecular switch capable of converting unhealthy white fat into healthy, energy-burning brown fat in mice. Drugs that flip this switch rapidly reduced obesity and diabetes risk factors in mice fed a high fat diet.
For those who find it impossible to exercise and are overweight this drug of the future may be the answer for them.
For me fresh air, good music and exercise is the answer.

2. If you are eating food or having drinks with the an ingredient that has the prefix ‘Phos’  such as phosphoric acid then you should reduce the amount of intake.   According to the American Journal of Kidney diseases you should make an effort to read labels and aim to reduce the amount of this mineral in your diet. (It is used as a preservative and a flavoring agent)

They believe some phosphorous is necessary but too much can harm your bones, heart, and kidneys.

5 ways hackers attack you (and how to counter them)

tumblr_mbw0rjljJJ1rzdozgo1_400

I saw this article on Fox News this weekend and thought it very interesting and rather scary actually. The thing that amazed me most was that for $3,000 you are able to buy a fully operational kit to start your hacking career. unbelievable, well not really I suppose, nothing should surprise us these days.

1. Phishing scams
Received an email from the Queen of Nigeria or some official sounding lawyer offering you a million dollars to be transferred into your account once you send your details? I don’t think so. You are probably thinking who would fall for that. Well believe it thousands a year get sucked in.

2. Trojan horse
One of the most popular ways to deliver a Trojan is a variation of the phishing email scams.

An example of this(and I get one at least twice a week) is an email from a well-known shipping company saying you have a delivery (mine always seem to be DHL at the moment). Just click on the URL address and they have slipped their slimy little hands into your computer.
An alarm bell should go off if the company does not address the content of the email with your name. For example if they use Dear customer, or Dear resident. “DO NOT OPEN”. I often get one from the bank saying my ATM card is blocked. I rang the company the first time it happen just to make sure then forwarded it to their fraud department.
Similar scams appear on Facebook and Twitter. You think you’re going to watch a funny video your friend posted. Instead, a pop-up tells you to update your video player. The “update” file it provides is really a Trojan.

3. Drive-by downloads
Hackers set up websites with a virus attached. It can be found on popular search engines and look very genuine.
Hackers can also sneak on to anyones website after finding some security weakness on your site and embed their virus in your website. This then requires a very good security to detect this. You may need to contact the security software company for them to run through your site. Often you can be alerted by a person whose own website security has picked it up.
You should also be using the latest version of your programs. Anyone using Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 needs to update or switch browsers immediately.
All my computers are ‘Apple’ and although I do not have the same problems as a PC owner we apple owners are not impenetrable so we need to be careful.

4. Bypassing passwords
Hackers don’t waste time trying to guess your password these days.
They might get your password from a data breach at a company or website you use. That happens often as you hear on the news.
You need to change your password every now and then and also the security questions.
Give an answer to the security question that has nothing to do with the questions.
That would be confusing for them.

5. Using open Wi-fi
Just don’t do it.
Hackers or neighbors can hack your computer from outside your building or at Starbucks or wherever you are sitting innocently working on your computer.
I think most people know this now but just in case check your security system to make sure.

This is a very good article and worth reading in full

4. THE SMELL OF FRESHLY CUT GRASS IS ACTUALLY A PLANT DISTRESS CALL, TO SIGNAL PREDATORS TO EAT THE INSECTS THAT MAY BE EATING THE PLANT.
Scientists have found that plants releases the chemical with that familiar scent as a way to alert nearby creatures who can rescue them from insect attacks. They studied the wild tobacco plant, and they noticed that they released a compound called Green Leaf Volatiles (GLV).

5. The worlds largest mall is 99% empty!
Its called the New South China Mall in Dongguan, China, and it is over 7 million square feet! The mall is so large that it has room for as many as 2,350 stores
A Chinese billionaire made rich through his business in the instant noodle industry built the mall in 2005, and since then it remains almost completely vacant. Dongguan has a population of over ten million people, yet the mall is so large it could not be constructed in the downtown and had to be moved to a suburb and can only be reached through car or bus, which many people do not have access to.
