Home Made Tomato Sauce

I made this tomato sauce the other day as we have an excess of tomato’s  in our garden. Pasquale cooks his over a fire. I did not – I used the stove. I did stick to the recipe and cooking time, that was an exception for me as I can’t help adding a bit of this and a bit of that. Staying with his recipe proved to be the only way. It smelt fantastic while cooking and taste is what I have been looking for a long time. I did the separation of skin and pulp with a colander with big holes. I just swished it around till only the skins were left in the colander.

Any way if you want the real thing you should try it. It is time-consuming I have to admit but the taste was ‘excelento’

Some Useful Home Hints – 03/26/2018

Perfect barbecued  Asparagus – When barbecuing asparagus, thread a wooden satay stir (soaked in water first) through the top and bottom of several pieces at a time, they are much easier to turn and won’t disappear through the gaps in the grill.

2. Dip your toes for a better sleep This I am not sure I would do but if it helps with sleep I am all for it – If you find it hard to sleep in the hot, humid weather especially if there is no air-conditioning, a bowl of iced water by the bed and cold  your feet in it when you are wakeful as it helps regulate the whole body temperature.

3. Prevent a clogged sealant cartridge – After using a sealant cartridge  plug the nozzle with blue tac and it will prevent drying out and clogging.

4. Prevent garden mould – To control sooty mould on gardenia and citrus, vigorously shake 250 ml vegetable oil and 60 ml dishwashing detergent in a screw top jar until white then use 2 tablespoons of the emulsion in a liter of water to spray your plants thoroughly. Good for pumpkin and cucumber plants I would say to stop that mould establishing itself.

5. Recycle the scoop – Recycle the plastic scoops that come in the laundry powder. This is great a measure to use in dry goods and dry pet food. Make sure you wash it well first though and leave it in the sun a while so it looses its perfume.

6. fashion tip – To remove gum from your clothes, cool the gum using an ice-cube then flick it off with a butter knife.

Kangen Water – Making waves in 5 Star Restaurants

I told you so! I am not the only one that loves her Kangen water machine. The best in the world does also. Don’t believe me go to http://www.lifechanging-water.com. You need one in your business and at home your body will love you for it.

The Enagic technology and Kangen Water have been in the Japanese marketplace for many years and are used for both commercial and consumer application. Just like any great product, given enough time, it will spread beyond its local borders and will make its way to other cities, regions and
countries. As more and more people learn about Kangen Water, it has started showing up in more and more places all around the globe, including some of the best restaurants in the world. As the highest quality product of its kind in the market, the Enagic technology has garnered a reputation of providing outstanding craftsmanship, dependability and performance to produce different grades of waters, which offer a variety of different uses and benefits. It is with great pride that we announce that the Enagic technology and Kangen Water are being used in the restaurants of the 5-Star Mandarin Oriental Taipei Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan.

Mr. Sukasem M.C. Lin, the owner of the hotel, is a man of both traditional and modern appreciation worldwide. His grandparents operated a hotel in his youth, something which deeply influenced  his decision to enter into the hospitality industry. In 2014 Mr. Lin realized his goal of the complete renovation of the Mandarin Oriental Taipei. He insisted on only the highest quality products for the hotel and dedicated a total of 10 years to complete the renovation. Beautiful decorative stones for different parts of the hotel were imported from Europe and every part of the hotel was designed by top designers from around the world. This hotel is full of Mr. Lin’s passion, dedication, style and uncompromising dedication to quality. In a candid interview Mr. Lin explained why he chose Enagic technology and Kangen Water to be used in all the restaurants of his hotel.
“I was introduced to Kangen Water by a friend of mine in Singapore. I started drinking Kangen Water and came to realize its various benefits. In order to serve healthy, clean and tasty dishes, we decided to install the Enagic technology in all the restaurants of the hotel. Almost everyone drinks water in some way during meals, including in soup and tea. I did consider several water ionizer brands, but the Enagic technology came out on top because it solved all the concerns we had for cooking, including making sure the device had necessary testing and certifications to be used in a commercial kitchen. The device also had to be able to take the rigorous and demanding use by our kitchen staff, something that the Enagic technology was more than equipped to handle. Although it took using the technology and trying Kangen Water to convince the staff of the benefits  of the water, they recognized the need for the water and have embraced the use of the device. Now they take advantage of the Enagic technology and Kangen Water in all aspects of cooking, including washing fresh fruits and vegetables, making tea and soup and chemical free cleaning of the kitchen.”

Tajimaya Honkan, the Shabu-Shabu restaurant in the hotel, is so popular that there is a three-month waiting list to get a reservation. Patrons enjoy a variety of delicious dishes which have used Kangen Water during preparation and as an ingredient. At the end of meal they add Kangen Water to the soup and make porridge out of it. Then the staff explains to the customers why they use Kangen Water for cooking. Mr. Lin explained, “Once you buy a good product and master its use, you will be able to share the value and benefits with others. I am sure that less than 1% of people in Taiwan have ever heard about the Enagic technology and Kangen Water. We hope to help inform them of the advantages of the water by allowing our patrons to experience the unique difference this water can make.” He added, “I consider myself a forward thinking person and I think this technology will become an important part of every commercial and consumer kitchen. From now on, food will need to be more than just delicious; it will also need to benefit  your health in as many ways as possible. I believe that this is the beginning of a trend in health and cuisine which will eventually dominate the culinary world.”

Daddy’s Home 2 Trashed by Critics – I thought it was funny

Daddy’s Home 2 – Funny, Funny, Funny – Corny but a great belly laugh – In my opinion

I read yesterday that this movie was getting a bad review. Look I have never been a Will Ferrell fan ( don’t know why as I don’t think I have ever seen his movies) I guess he just did not look funny to me.

I have to say he was so funny or even silly in this movie but he was a LOL for me. I thought it was great,  I was not the only one laughing in the theatre thats for sure. I really don’t know how the cast were able to keep a straight face when they were doing some of the scenes. All the cast in my opinion had great chemistry

Anyway if you have not seen it you should go for some entertaining viewing I thought it was hilarious, a little corny but a good laugh (something we all need)

10 out of 10 for me

Poem Friday – You Just Don’t Know

It was Sunday,  sitting at the hotel, cigar and drink in hand
I said to David how quiet, peaceful, and beautiful this corner of the land

First of the month of October, nothing unusual, last day, tomorrow we leave
I could not have imagined the hours ahead, I could never have perceived

Played the poker machines had a good win, ‘til 11:30 or there about
Went back to the room and straight to bed as there was an early checkout

Little did I realize what was happening not far away
So unaware, asleep then, to wake up to the news, to my dismay

A crazy shooter, many injured, so many lives lost
Never to return home, so much pain for loved ones, dreams gone, what a cost.

It is a good thing that we don’t know what is ahead, nothing planned
They would not be there, singing, laughing, listening to music of the band

58 more Angels in heaven as  life left their bodies as they fell
One, you can be sure, that shooter, he is in Hell

We must learn from this… like butterflies spread your wings,  just go with the flow
Anything can happen in a moment to end your life, your dreams,  you just don’t know

Small Savings – Big Fortune

Buy reconditioned products – The meaning of this is the product has been returned to the factory where it was inspected and refurbished to working order. You may need to ignore the scratches and make sure that it comes with a warranty. An example is say a cordless drill that goes for $238 new can be brought refurbished for $157 – Saving $81

Make your own salad dressing – A store-bought salad dressing can cost about $3 or more. Make your own.

A vinaigrette dressing is :- 2 tablespoons of wine vinegar 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup of olive oil and pepper to taste. Put in a nice container and shake before using.  Save about $1.50 a week if you eat salad most days (half a bottle) – Saving around $75 a year
