In 1943 actress Greer Garson took five and a half minutes to say “thank-you” for winning the Oscar for best actress in the movie “Mrs Miniver”. Since that time the academy set a time limit for all acceptance speeches.

Elephants can not jump. It is physiologically impossible for them to do so, because of their weight. Circus tricks are not natural activities for elephants in the wild, and that they will step down from a platform, but will not jump.

Facts about the Ocean

The oceans occupy nearly 71% of our planet’s surface. The oceans provide 99 percent of the Earth’s living space- the largest space in our universe known to be inhabited by living organisms.

More oil reaches the oceans each year as a result of leaking automobiles and other non-point sources than was spilled in Prince William Sound by the Exxon Valdez

Water pressure at the deepest point in the ocean is more than 8 tons per square inch, the equivalent of one person trying to hold 50 jumbo jets.

A swallow of seawater may contain millions of bacterial cells, hundreds of thousands of phytoplankton and tens of thousands of zooplankton

1. When a dolphin is sick or injured, its cries of distress summon immediate aid from other dolphins, who try to support it to the surface so that it can breathe.
