From GMO to BIO

I took this off Facebook today as I thought if you are a label reader like I am you will probably see this and wonder what it is. It sounds real healthy – No it is not.

This is what Sara Hansen wrote:-

OK so this just happened in Australia 😕
Why would they do this? 🙄

Well Bio Fortified sounds alot more natural & acceptable, has a nice ring to it doesn’t it. What would you think if your read that on a label? 🤷‍♀️

As a community we have become aware of GMO crops & there is a negative assosiation. Just like MSG which is now labeled yeast extract, yep Yeast extract. Sounds better, more natural right 🤦‍♀️

It is our RIGHT to know what we are eating so we can make an informed CHOICE ☝🏾

This has reiterated so strongly why I am doing what im doing 🙌🏾

To empower people to healthy, fun, fullfilled lives with passion & purpose. Living with connection to family community & the environment ✌🏾🧡

When your quality of life is compromised by our governing bodies taking away our CHOICES…this is when as a community we come together & show we care 🙏🏽💜

WeedKiller in our Breakfast Cereals?

I knew that Tomato plants are poisoned at the end of their  growing life so as to ripen the tomatoes quickly for the markets. I was never sure what with and always tried to either grow my own or just not eat them. Now I realize there are a lot more crops getting the same treatment.

Environmental Working Group (EWG) just released its second round of 2018 test results measuring glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup weed killer, in popular oat-based cereals and foods.

The nonprofit organization released the new results after two companies, Quaker and General Mills, told the public it has no reason to worry about traces of glyphosate in its products.

Not True

Why is there glyphosate in our food? According to the U.S. Geological Survey, 250 million pounds of glyphosate are sprayed on American crops each year. Glyphosate is primarily used on Roundup Ready corn and soybeans that are genetically modified to withstand the herbicide.

Glyphosate is a systemic herbicide, meaning it’s taken up inside of the plant, including the parts livestock and humans wind up eating.

Glyphosate is sprayed on other non-GMO crops, like wheat, oats, barley and beans, right before harvest. Farmers sometimes call this “burning down” the crops and do this to kill the food plants and dry them out so that they can be harvested sooner.

Interesting

28 products tested, those with the highest levels of glyphosate include: (1)

  • Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Honey Nut (2,837 ppb)
  • Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Brown Sugar (2,746 ppb)
  • Quaker Overnight Oats, Unsweetened with Chia Seeds (1,799 ppb)
  • Cheerios, Oat Crunch Cinnamon (1,171 ppb)
  • Quaker Overnight Oats, Raisin Walnut & Honey Heaven (1,029 ppb)
  • Quaker Breakfast Squares Soft Baked Bars, Peanut Butter (1,014 ppb)
  • Quaker Breakfast Flats Crispy Snack Bars, Cranberry Almond (894 ppb)
  • Apple Cinnamon Cheerios (868 ppb)
  • Honey Nut Cheerios (833 ppb)
  • Chocolate Cheerios (826)

Now I love my porridge but I think I need to have second thoughts about where  I buy this porridge and what label I buy.

I mean what can you do  as it seems there is generally lots of not so good stuff  being being sprayed on our food, especially our kids food. For me what the heck,  I have come this far eating porridge its not so bad for me but the kids have a lifetime to be concerned. Bio Dynamic food is an option and any other organic grown produce for me in the future. Maybe some of these companies need to overhaul the harvesting techniques to prevent this happening. I will cost us more for the product though but for health of the children I think it would be a good thing.

This information came from the website of Dr Axe if you wish to read more on the subject
