Poem Friday – Life Is Good I am Blessed, the Best it Can Be

Life is Good Its the best It can Be
Author: Lesley Voth

I have to say in a grateful way
In the past two weeks or more I have had a wonderful stay

First of all at the beginning of march was my sons wedding
A few days later off to USA, Actually to Houston Texas they were heading

From all accounts they had a great time felt so much at ease
Thank you Dave and my friends for giving them some lifetime memories

For me well I headed off To Queanbeyan, near Canberra on my bike
A good 8 1/2 hours ride so it was quite the hike

Franny’s Birthday I had to be there
To miss that I would not dare

IMG_1845

Plenty of Bollinger, yep we drank most of the night
Had to celebrate the girls party with the best right?

After the party a couple of days later
Headed off to Bermagui with the Pugs, what could be greater

Well ‘Sugar’ not into this travel thing as she griped most of the way
The two boys Ziggie and Gus for them asleep in the back, was such a relaxing day

Three lovable pugs so cute they are the best
They ran themselves ragged, once they got home they had to rest

Donna and I we swam each day and to the beach we walked
Great time together also ate, drank, slept and talked

Caught a few fish which we cooked on the BBQ
It was so enjoyable but time flew

Franny arrived a couple of days before the end
We did a few chores around the place, productive time we did spend

Well back to Canberra we all took off Sunday
Monday packed my bike, headed off Tuesday sad but the end of my stay

Another 8 1/2 ride and so really pleasant warm and still
The temperatures fantastic, Had to watch out for Roos and wombats, a lot of road kill

I am so pleased I came back on that day
Cause the temperatures fell like big time would have been uncomfortable in a big way

There is nothing worse like riding in the freezing cold
But riding in warm weather is a feeling to great to behold

Well here I am back in Queenscliffe, what a great place
A little chilly, good coffee and for a couple of weeks this is my base

Yep March was a busy time for me
But I had a great time from the Pictures you see

Life is good I am blessed, the best it can be

2.What a Gosh Heart is?

tumblr_mxtc6lDIJ41r0lhi8o1_500

They take a pig heart, soak it in an ingredient commonly found in shampoo and wash away the cells until you’re left with a protein scaffold that is to a heart what two-by-four framing is to a house.

Then inject that ghost heart, as it’s called, with hundreds of millions of blood or bone-marrow stem cells from a person who needs a heart transplant, place it in a bioreactor–a box with artificial lungs and tubes that pump oxygen and blood into it–and wait as the ghost heart begins to mature into a new, beating human heart.

Doris Taylor, director of regenerative medicine research at the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, has been working on this– first using rat hearts, then pig hearts and human hearts–for years.

The process is called decellularization and it is a tissue engineering technique designed to strip out the cells from a donor organ, leaving nothing but connective tissue that used to hold the cells in place.

This scaffold of connective tissue–called a “ghost organ” for its pale and almost translucent appearance–can then be reseeded with a patient’s own cells, with the goal of regenerating an organ that can be transplanted into the patient without fear of tissue rejection.

This ghost heart is ready to be injected with a transplant recipient’s stem cells so a new heart–one that won’t be rejected–can be grown.

As impressive as the Lockheed SR-71 was, it had a secret older brother (the A-12) which was even faster, lighter, and had a higher service ceiling

4. 85% of people use music to reduce their daily emotional stress.

To incorporate music into a busy life, try playing CDs in the car, or put the radio on when in the bath or shower. Take portable music with you when walking the dog, or put the stereo on instead of the TV.

Singing (or shouting) along can also be a great release of tension.  Calming music before bedtime promotes peace and relaxation and helps to induce sleep.

  • Music’s form and structure can bring order and security to disabled and distressed children. It encourages coordination and communication, so improves their quality of life.
  • Listening to music on headphones reduces stress and anxiety in hospital patients before and after surgery.
  • Music can help reduce both the sensation and distress of both chronic pain and postoperative pain.
  • Listening to music can relieve depression and increase self-esteem ratings in elderly people.
  • Making music can reduce burnout and improve mood among nursing students.
  • Music therapy significantly reduces emotional distress and boosts quality of life among adult cancer patients.

Wishing You A Merry Christmas

product_89916_1_orig

Well what happened to this year
Went so fast, another year older I fear

2013 has seen so many countries at War, deaths and not much peace
We can pray for the young ones but history shows they never cease

But on a happier note Britain has a new prince
We saw a country and many people joyous like we have not seen since

2014 we should all make it a year where we consider getting fit
At least begin, start out slow, start out doing just a little bit

Make it a year where we become more aware
All the things that surround us, stop, look around, with a concentrated stare

Listen to those who have something important for them, to say
Because your consideration and care could save a life that day

Observe that they maybe suffering some sort of disturbed sadness
They may be different and considered by some suffering from madness

This is a wonderful time to celebrate and be with friends and relations
To enjoy each other, Bring in the New Year together with all nations

For me I wish you all plenty of cheer and goodwill
Enjoy each moment because you and I know time will not stand still

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year
