Is Sparkling Water Good For you?

 

The sale of Sparking water in the USA has risen 42% since 2011 according to statistics done in 2016. Sparkling water can be natural or man-made. Of course Natural is the better alternative, like sparkling mineral water which is naturally carbonated and contains minerals and straight from the source. Not all Sparkling mineral water is naturally sparkling so some companies add Carbon dioxide to give it bubbles.

Seltzer Water vs. Club Soda – Choose neither – sparkling water you absolutely want to stay away from is one that contains artificial flavors, colors and/or additives. That is those healthy looking mineral drinks like Orange, lime, grapefruit etc.
Club soda contains sodium, but seltzer is typically sodium-free. If you have a health problem with salt the Club Soda is not the one for you.

Natural Sparkling Water Benefits

 

Doctors recommend  non-sparkling (Kangen of course in my opinion ) water over sparkling, but sparkling water definitely wins over high-sugar soda and juices. Sparkling water  lowers the pH of water, making it more acidic, and one of the things that causes dental erosion.

pH of flavored sparkling waters is concerning.  Carbonating of water lowers its pH to around a 5.

This I find rather interesting. Researchers have found that the sensation we experience when we drink a carbonated beverage like sparkling water is due to a reaction that occurs inside our mouths that changes carbon dioxide bubbles into irritating carbonic acid. So that exhilarating “bite” of carbonation is actually chemical rather than physical.

Basically the end the recommendation is opting for regular water with ph of 8 – 9.5 the vast majority of the time or using natural flavors like lemon, cucumber or waterelon. Those natural infusions also helps to create a higher pH level.

The Benefits of a Himalayan Salt Lamp

I have had a Himalayan salt lamp for years and also got one each for my GrandKids. I bought it for the reasons below and if nothing else the ambiance for a bedroom is quite peaceful. I found it interesting the benefits of these lamps so thought would pass it on.

You do need to be aware that there are many fake salt lamps on the market. I have seen them at dollar stores and farmers markets that are quite cheap so I suspect they are not the real deal.

Just read this article from the website of Dr Mercola who is  well-respected in the field of medicine. It is well worth the read and I believe everyone should be aware of the dangers of these resistant drugs.

I Will give you an outline of what it is about.

It has been suggested that deaths from antibiotic-resistant disease will reach 10 million per year. Drivers of this disease is antibiotics in agriculture, Hospitals, CRE- (carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae) which produces an enzyme that breaks down antibiotics

Strategies to protect yourself and help prevent the spread of are:-

  1. Infection prevention, with a focus on strengthening your immune system naturally. Avoiding sugars, processed foods and grains, stress reduction, and optimizing your sleep and vitamin D level are foundational for this. Adding in traditionally fermented and cultured foods is also important, as this will help optimize your microbiome.

The Nitric Oxide Dump exercise (below) will also help improve your immune status. Contrary to supplements that boost immune function, which should be taken only as needed, the Nitric Oxide Dump exercise is a preventive method that should ideally be done daily.

2. Limiting your use of antibiotics. Any time your doctor prescribes an antibiotic, ask if it’s absolutely necessary, and keep in mind that antibiotics do not work for viral infections. Avoid antibiotic soaps that typically have dangerous chemicals like triclosan.

6. Common-sense precautions in the kitchen: Kitchens are notorious breeding grounds for disease-causing bacteria, courtesy of contaminated meat products, including antibiotic-resistant strains of E-coli. To avoid cross-contamination between foods in your kitchen, adhere to the following recommendations:

  • Use a designated cutting board, preferably wood, not plastic, for raw meat and poultry, and never use this board for other food preparation, such as cutting up vegetables. Color coding your cutting boards is a simple way to distinguish between them
  • To sanitize your cutting board, use hot water and detergent. Simply wiping it off with a rag will not destroy the bacteria
  • For an inexpensive, safe and effective kitchen counter and cutting board sanitizer, use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. Keep each liquid in a separate spray bottle, and then spray the surface with one, followed by the other, and wipe off
  • Coconut oil can also be used to clean, treat and sanitize your wooden cutting boards. It’s loaded with lauric acid that has potent antimicrobial actions. The fats will also help condition the wood

My recommendation is   Precaution of the water you drink 💦 – Antibiotic residue can be found in the water you drink. The  Kangen water machine will filter and enhance the quality of the water  to strengthen your immune system. I personally have experienced this.

Another Amazing Story About Kangen Water💦

Benefits of Reishi Mushrooms

This is interesting for me as I have just started taking Reishi mushroom powder in tea form. Reason –   I have been having trouble with a mild form of Vertigo which I find very debilitating and frustrating as I have it for weeks at a time.  I have been taking it now  for a week now first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before I head off to the gym. Result – so far the vertigo has disappeared after two days. I have to say I have stopped all other vitamins at this time so that I can evaluate the powder. I know that it is said to be a physical problem, with crystals in our inner ear but I believe it could also be a deficiency of sorts as well that can cause the swimming of ones vision and head. 

Will take this powder for two weeks and see how it goes.
