Home Made Mascara

mascara1

Never heard of it before and of course, so used to buying mascara from a cosmetic retail store that it never entered my head that I could make it myself. I have known that modern mascaras are quite toxic but of course vanity prevailed.

I was thumbing through my favorite website of Dr Axe and I came upon this recipe for mascara. I have not tried it yet but will start on it tomorrow,  I have all the ingredients except black mineral powder, {if you click on the word it will take you to amazon where you can purchase it} bentonite clay and beeswax.

Here is the recipe.

Mineral-Based Lavender Homemade Mascara

Total Time: 10 minutes
Serves: Makes one tube

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
  • 1/2—1 teaspoon grated beeswax
  • ⅛ teaspoon castor oil
  • ¼ teaspoon black mineral powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon bentonite clay
  • 4–5 drops lavender essential oil
  • Clean mascara container

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Place the coconut oil and grated beeswax in a small saucepan on low heat and stir until they are completely melted.
  2. Add the castor oil and the aloe vera gel and stir.
  3. Add the black mineral powder and continue to blend.
  4. Then, add the bentonite clay and the lavender essential oil.
  5. Remove from heat and blend.
  6. Using a small plastic bag or cake decorator with a small tip, place the mixture into the bag.
  7. Push the mixture into the corner with the hole, then place that corner into the mascara tube and carefully push the mixture into the tube. You can get these tubes and wand at Amazon

Researchers from South Australia’s Flinders University analized data of 68,000 people in 64 countries and found that taking an extra 3500 steps and spending an addition 45 minutes on the move each day resulted in weight loss of about 1.5kgs. Been Away For A While Now I Am Back

Got an urgent call this year on the 21st of November
My Mom is sick, packed quickly, forgot more that I remember

Flew to New Zealand, the ‘land of the long white cloud’
Just one bag that was all I was allowed

Did not call my neice for her birthday
Hope she had a good one, I am sure she will forgive me anyway

Happy birthday Donna I did think of you
Hope you had a good one, Love to both of you two

I had plenty of sun in Australia as you can see
If you love the water there sure is no better place to be

Well back to Mom we thought her breaths would be few
Suffered much pain but with tons of medication her chances to survive grew

She is now ringing from the hospital “Lesley come get me and bring me home I am not staying here”
Yep she is back to normal, demanding and giving the nurses plenty of grief I fear

Patience I will need although I have been known to lack
But will keep in touch, Been away for a while and now I am back

Lesley
