- According to Georgia State University your blood pressure drops by 13% after having sex. This has the same effect as those achieved by common blood pressure medications possible because of the release the stress relieving hormone oxytocin.
2. According to Micheal Mosley a well-known nutritionist stomach ulcers are caused by bacteria. The investigation of the hypothesis that the bacteria, Helicobacter pylori and not stress caused ulcers. It was found that these ulcers were successfully treated with antibiotics. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin and ibuprofen can also cause ulcers if taken too often.
3. There is a travel company called Pack Up+ Go.
This company (in the US) books your flights and hotel for you but does not tell you where you are going.’ Surprise ‘ . It does a survey of you plus keeping your budget in mind and your liking. They then schedule a 3 day weekend trip keeping your destination a secret. The travel time is minimized and send you to a place you probably never thought of. I think it sounds exciting. I have done a similar thing here in Australia a few years ago called a ‘Mystery Tour’ which cost about $80 Australian and you turned up at the airport at a certain time and the airlines would fly you to a surprise place. Ours happen to be a day in Melbourne. It was so much fun.
4. That Easter falls on a different day every year as it is based on the moon phases. I 325CE Constantine led a council of Christian bishops who then decided that Easter must always be on a Sunday to honor the resurrection of Jesus. Thy also said it would follow but not land on the first full moon after the spring Equinox. The reason being the date can fall anywhere between March 22 and April 25

I read this article today online from the Australian Courier Mail. I thought it was rather interesting and hopefully promising for anyone that has developed skin cancer.
COMMON anti-inflammatory drugs could stop skin cancers turning into deadly ulcerated melanomas, Queensland researchers have found.
A study by the Brisbane-based QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute has shown that regular use of some anti-inflammatory painkillers including aspirin and ibuprofen reduce the likelihood of melanomas becoming ulcerated and thus worsening survival odds.
Statins, a popular cholesterol lowering drug, were also found to lower the risk of the condition, with researchers suggesting this medication might “modify inflammatory mechanisms in the body that cause melanomas to become ulcerated.”
Conversely, the 787-person study found that diabetes sufferers were at increased risk of developing ulcerated melanomas which occur when the top layer of skin disappears.
Lead researcher Lena von Schuckmann said further studies were needed, but the findings, published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, were “really exciting.”
“Potentially, down the track, we can find some causations and potentially find some modifiable risk factors for melanoma ulcerations,” she said.
Meanwhile, a University of Queensland study released yesterday found that adding aspirin to some cancer drugs could boost their effectiveness.
The mouse study, published in journal Clinical Cancer Research, showed that mixing the painkiller with Sorafenib, a cancer inhibitor drug, “strongly enhanced its effectiveness” for treatment of lung cancer and melanomas with RAS genetic mutations.
Cancer Council Queensland chief executive Chris McMillian said ulcerated melanomas were associated with poorer survival outcomes because they were fast growing.
“Research into this area is vital to help us better understand how to detect and treat melanomas early to improve survival and reduce long-term effects on patients,” she said.
“If you notice a new spot on your skin or a change in the size, shape or colour of a spot, it’s important to visit your GP as early detection saves lives.”
I am an Australian resident, NZ born. I live 6 months of the year in Texas as that is where I do business.
I watch different political video’s from time to time but do not invade your space by showing them on my blog. This case is different. I have to be honest I am a Trump supporter (More than I can say for the Republican Congress) so you could say I am a little one sided but this young man is saying exactly what I believe but he does it better than me. He is a registered Democrat (just thought I would mention that)
I listen to the media over here in Australia and they are forever making fun and criticizing the President. I have not heard one positive thing from the media here. Shame on them. Cause they are only repeating what they want to hear not the truth. Anyway instead of me babbling on just take 15 minutes of your time to just listen. Think about what he has to say because he is our next generation and they should be heard.
Because ” If we don’t do different nothing will change”
From Outside Looking in
This Election from an Outsider looking in
It drives you crazy, One does not know where to begin
Hillary Clinton as we know well
There is a lot of History to tell
Donald Trump he is new to the Political scene
In the construction and real estate business he has been
My opinion well I guess it does not count for much
As I am an Australian unable to vote as such
Donald is the one you vote for if you want change
Unfortunate but he is always in the middle of the main stream media firing range
We only get to see one side, tiny part of his speeches
While journalists commit media bias breaches
Now Wikileaks on the other hand
Give you an insight of the Clinton Brand
It should be that her future is written in sand
Washed away by truth that should see her banned
I hope for Julian Assange’s sake
That Donald wins the presidential stake
In my opinion Julian’s life could be a little unsafe, may be on the line
As if Hillary wins she could aim for him with revenge on her mind
Because there is a question about the death of the young man Seth Rich
DNC staffer, Shot multiple times, suspected of being a snitch
Donald Trump may not be perfect but will give it a good try
If you want more of the same, vote Clinton but I would question Why?
We need to make changes, the young, some adult choices
I believe if we don’t, there will be more violence, and unheard voices
America is a great country, Powerful, beautiful, free and strong
Everyone should be proud of this country and stand for the National Anthem song
The divisions will get greater I believe if you vote for the same
In my opinion Clinton wants your vote with no care of you, being president is her aim
She has lied, deceived and been to the country untrue
Many have died under her care with the protection of the democratic crew
Well as you can see I am a supporter of Mr Donald Trump for Presidential pass
I like his choices of running mates who are intelligent, experienced and have class
I believe he will be a negotiator with peace and prosperity on his mind
This country could see great changes, be safe with secure borders by design
Look in the end what I have to say or believe is of no consequence to you
But make sure you vote for what you believe in and feel. Vote for integrity and what you believe is true
Just saying this election has broken some barriers of tradition of how to win
It certainly has our attention as an Outsider looking in
This of course is my opinion
Halal Labeled Food Products
Many Australians are finding this process offensive and I am sure, be causing products to be more expensive because of the process below. Many are making a choice to avoid buying anything with this label on it but obviously it is getting harder to do so.
Personally, I also find it offensive that I have this label on my food products. I am able to have this opinion because I was born in NZ and an Australian resident and live part of the year in USA and I am a ‘Woman’. I have the pleasure of these rights in all three countries.
Many young Men and Women have died to keep these rights for us so I choose to honor them.
This is an extract from Australian food and Grocery Council
Many Australian food manufacturers seek Halal certification of their facilities and processes, in order to label their products as Halal and ensure they are able to be enjoyed by Muslim consumers. In the same way that food labeled as vegan or gluten-free is suitable for consumption by a broad range of consumers, Halal certified foods are commonly enjoyed by non-Muslims.
For a product to be Halal, it must be as a whole, and in part:
1.free from any substance taken or extracted from a Haram animal or ingredient (e.g. pigs, dogs, carnivorous animals, animals not slaughtered in compliance with Islamic rites);
2. made, processed, manufactured and/or stored by using utensils, equipment and/or machinery that has been cleaned according to Islamic law (e.g. not cleaned with alcohol); and
3.free from contact with, or being close to, a Haram substance during preparation, manufacture, processing and storage (e.g. blood, alcohol, poisonous and intoxicating plants and insects such as worms and cockroaches).
Many foods and drinks, particularly those that do not contain meat or alcohol, are inherently compliant with Halal criteria. Official certification, which may be granted by accredited religious authorities in Australia, any claim of certification is however required before products are able to be labelled as such.
Valerie Taylor is a well know Australian diver. I have no idea how old she is but for most of my life I can remember her and the adventures she had and wished I could have been part of it. She was always this gorgeous blonde in a swim suit or diving suit. In fact she was probably the first Australian female diver that made a name for herself studying sharks and many animals of the sea. She is a great advocate of the protection of sharks and all animals of the ocean for that matter. She basically has spent most of her life under the water filming many great documentaries on the subject. This story is fascinating.
Being a bit of a Poet myself I thought you may get the same enjoyment out of this poem as I did.
Enjoyment, well that may be the wrong word, maybe appreciation may be better, as it brought it brought me to tears.
It is such a wonderful story but it brought some emotions to the top as I have 3 friends that are just holding on to this life by a string and the sadness of this story made the tears flow. But thats ok sometimes you need something like this to bring things to a head and not hold on to them..
This poem is a beautiful Australian story.
