Poem Friday – 08/24/2012 – Water, I Just Love It

Water, I Just Love It
By Lesley Voth

I think I have spoken of this before
I love water, mind and body it does restore

I drink it to rehydrate
That need for it, in the heat, without it I hate

Such a good soothing and pleasant feeling
Supposed to help you be calm and qualities of healing

The ocean, Just to sit and watch it just be
Sometimes rough, smooth, crashing waves to see

The feel of the water when swimming, diving under
supporting your body, floating, your mind full of wonder

Bathing and showering that is another thing
Just love it, the song in you, it does bring

When it rains it brings life to the soil
Too much of course, brings destruction and spoil

I have swum in it, canoed on it, all things fun
fished, played, surfed, skied, tubed, lay by it in the sun

Wherever there is water it gives me great pleasure
Memories with grandkids and all that I treasure

But never take water, ever for granted
Because shortage of it can make life as we know it very disenchanted

Somethings I Tire of, lose interest and quit
It will never be Water, I just love it

Arthur’s Story!

I always think somethings come your way for a reason.
This video was sent to me when I was in a “Poor Me”, state of mind and after watching it I immediately thought of my good friend Cindy who is fighting Ovarian Cancer at the moment and having some bad days.
I sent her this video as it not only has beautiful music it is a very beautiful story. One of strength and belief of others in Arthur and the great strength within Arthur. I hope she recieves some strength from it and energy to keep on fighting.
It choked me up, made me ‘Blubber’(have a good cry – its good for the soul)

Poem Friday – Kindness

kindness
By Lesley Voth

It is always a good feeling to be kind
Wonderful for the soul, great for the mind

Kindess is not always to be found
Some are hurtful, nasty and not nice to be around

We should always aspire to attend the need of others
As we would for our family, sisters and brothers

Be genuine in all that we say
Hopefully make for someone a special day

To give and expect nothing in return
From someone elses kindness we can learn

To be compassionate and sensitive to all living things
Great rewards to our soul will this kindness bring

To display kindness with energy and passion
I hope kindness never becomes old fashion

Inspire, encourage and motivate who ever it may be
You know sometimes that kindness needs to be given to me, by me

Be patient and tolerate those who are disagreeable
We have not way of knowing their trouble, their future not forseeable

So be kind to yourself and those around you
May life for all be happy and smooth, not a dull day only sky blue

Boost Your Brain Power

I think we all get a little concerned about our memory at times. I have heard it many times where someone is complaining because they cannot remember names, always loosing their keys, go to get something and cannot remember what it is and then have to retrace their steps so they can remember what it was. Does that sound like you? I know it sounds like me.
Just read an article yesterday and good news is that you are able to improve your memory and decrease your chances of getting dementia by some simple changes to your lifestyle.

1. Loving your heart

Anything that protects your heart from stress and damage will reduce your risk of dementia. Loose weight, get that blood pressure lower and improve your glucose and lipid control.

2.Exercise regularly

Those who remain fit and active retain their cognitive faculties longer. You can be very intelligent and bright but if you do not exercise the chances of you getting memory problems increase.

3. Eating well

Your diet influences your risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Foods naturally high in anti-oxidants may improve cognitive function.

4. Keeping your mind active

The saying goes if you don’t use it, you lose it. Mental activity together with exercise maintains your mental alertness. Social isolation can lead to stress, depression and mental decline. Join a club or society and stay socially active.

Epigenetics- How Does it Work?

I am always so interested in the subject of the power of the mind. I so agree with Bruce Lipton that we can, with our thoughts, make a situation better or worse.

We really know so little on this subject. I believe the main reason for that is that we find it so hard to believe that we can control our health with our thoughts. Many have proved it to be so.

I found this video on Dr Mercolas’ and I am sharing it with you.

Enjoy

Laughter! Embrace It, Makes You Live Longer

Laughter is strong medicine for mind and body

“Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health.” ~ Paul E. McGhee, Ph.D.

Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh.

Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health.

Here is a laugh

Some things can be restored. Those that can’t, we learn to love… just the way they are.
